JEAN HARRIS (nee JOWSEY) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Harris on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at the Grace Hospital, surrounded by her family, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Jean was predeceased by her parents Andy and Marion Jowsey, and her brother Blair. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 58 years, Roy, her children Rick (Debbie), Marti, Darryl (Julie), and Curt (Sue); her grandchildren Kim (Trevor), Brad (Samantha), Lindsay (Trevor), Bridey (Allister), Maddie, Jake, and Sarah; her great-grandchildren Ethan, Jayden, Olivia, Jacob, Jack, and Hunter; her sisters Eleanor, Linda (Don), her brother Ellis (Debbie), her sisters-in-laws Florence and Evelyn, and many nieces and nephews. Jean was born in Saltcoats, SK in 1937 and enjoyed growing up on the family farm. While attending Teacher's College in Moose Jaw she met the love of her life, Roy who was stationed at R.C.A.F. Station Moose Jaw. After getting married, they embarked on numerous postings that would take them to many parts of Canada and Europe. During these postings, they met many life-long friends. Their final move was to Winnipeg in 1987 where they renewed old friendships and started new ones. Jean was a past member of the Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club and enjoyed many hours on the golf course as a member of the John Blumberg Ladies 9 hole league. Jean and Roy enjoyed travelling, and they attended many Men's World Curling Championships, crossing the pond numerous times and making new friends. Jean was a kind and caring person providing love, support, and encouragement to her family in all their endeavours. Her advice and common sense approach was appreciated by family and friends. Family was most important to Jean. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved to spend time with them and attend their many activities. The family would like to thank Dr. Joshua, Dr. George, Heather and all the caring staff of 5N at the Grace Hospital for the compassion and understanding they showed to Jean and her family during her stay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sandra Schmirler Foundation, CancerCare Manitoba, or a charity of your choice. Funeral service will be held at the Westwood Presbyterian Church, 197 Browning Blvd., Winnipeg, MB on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Reception will follow. A private family interment service will take place at a later date. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 204-885-9715
