HOWARD JAMES ELLIOTT It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Howard James Elliott on March 10, 2016 at the Hamlets Care Home in Penticton, BC. Howard had a stroke in December 2014 and was in Seven Oaks Hospital for about two months and then went into a care home in Winnipeg. Howard's wife, Vicki, died of a heart attack on October 4, 2015, so on October 18, 2015, his son Bob moved him from Winnipeg to the Hamlets. Howard leaves behind to celebrate his life his son Bob, grandchildren Kara McNair and partner Bill McTeer; Jeffery Elliott, wife Jennifer and two great-grandsons, Thomas and Andrew; Colleen Elliott and Sean Elliott; his son Doug of Melbourne, Australia, wife Denise and granddaughters Louise, Nicole and Danielle; his brother Don and wife Trish; and his sister Betty; plus numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 25 years, Vicki, his brother Gordon, and his sister Eileen. Howard was a deeply religious and caring man, always willing to help family and friends. All who knew him, were indeed fortunate to have shared a part of his life. He kept in constant communication with all of his immediate and extended family because he was interested in knowing about their lives and was always looking for ways to help. He attended their weddings, their graduations, and never forgot birthdays. He also kept in frequent contact with other relatives as well. Howard was a proud member of Riverside Lions Club in St. Vital and held many offices with the Club, Zone and District and was a Melvin Jones Fellow. He was a proud veteran and member of the Ex Air Gunners Association and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 141, and a proud member of the Winnipeg Police Veterans Association. A great and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle who will be deeply missed. A celebration of Howard's life will be held in Winnipeg in June 2016.
