Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDIANNE DORIS TRUSS (nee PORTH) December 30, 1939 - March 10, 2016 Dianne passed away peacefully on March 10, 2016 at Royal Jubilee Hospital after battling both cancer and advanced dementia. She was born and raised in Winnipeg and also lived in Edmonton and Montreal before moving to Victoria with her family in 1977. Dianne was predeceased by her parents, Rudy and Doris Porth; her younger brother, Lorne and her daughter, Sheila. She was passionate about her family and leaves to mourn her loving husband of over 49 years, Dennis; daughter, Dawn and grandson, Ryan, of whom she was very proud; as well as sisters-in-law, Cynthia Suffield (Tom) and Regina Porth; nieces and nephews, Trevor Suffield (Shoena), Kristin Suffield, Laural Porth-Jones (Richard), Greg Porth (Ali), Brock Porth (Lysa) and their families, all of Winnipeg; cousins, Beverley Cook (Tom) and Sheryl Olson (Dave) of Calgary and Sharon Walker (Frank) of Eugene, OR; former son-in-law Mark Lindal (Jocelyn) and his daughter, Stephanie. Dianne was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, daughter, sister and friend. She had a smile that lit up every room she entered. She enjoyed times spent with family and friends, and was a fabulous hostess, making everyone who came to her home feel welcome. Dianne enjoyed many wonderful family vacations to Disney World and other places in the eastern US, the Okanagan, Hawaii, Disneyland, San Diego, Oregon and other places in the western US. She and Dennis went to Hawaii annually for over 20 years, and went to Europe and Mexico many times. Her most memorable trip was in 2014 when she and Dennis went to Australia and she fulfilled a long held dream to pet a kangaroo. She was passionate about all her friendships, her many volunteer activities, her involvement with her sorority sisters in Beta Sigma Phi and all things to do with music, especially mentoring Ryan on the piano. The family would like to thank all of the medical and nursing staff at 2 South-East at RJH for their outstanding care of Dianne. There will be a celebration of life for Dianne at McCall's Downtown, Johnson and Vancouver Streets at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 preceded by a private interment at Royal Oak Burial Park.
