KENNETH (KEN) EDWARD KNIGHT October 18, 1940 - March 9, 2016 Ken completed his journey through life on Wednesday March 9, 2016. He was born in Stettler, AB, to Thomas and Jean Knight, but had lived in Winnipeg for most of his adult life. Ken lived a very colourful and flamboyant life. He was predeceased by his long-time partner Claire Murray (2016) and his parrot Peppi. He leaves behind his two children: Cheryl (Michael) and Ian (Janet); stepchildren: Don, Dale (1988), Doug and Raymond; grandchildren: Desiree, Brittney, Alicia, Spencer and numerous stepgrandchildren and family. Ken was previously married to Kathy Jorgenson (1973 to 1992) and Marilyn Hadlow (1963 to 1969), both who passed away before him. Ken was larger than life, from his red sports jacket, to the trademark Stetson and boots; he will be missed by his many friends in the Auction Community. Ken spent his life on the center stage and was 1987 All Around World Auctioneering Champion. He affected many people's lives, not the least lifelong friend Bob Stanbury and his business and lifestyle crossed paths with too many good friends to mention. An interment ceremony will be held in Alix, AB, in June 2016. Friends and family who wish to attend should contact his daughter Cheryl for date and time. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes.

Condolences & Memories (13 entries)

  • Kenny was truly an amazing individual and I enjoyed his company and business association. Life was always full of excitement when he was around. I hadn't thought of Ken for several years but just did a Google search now and saw he passed away five years ago. I regret not knowing he was gone but please accept my most sincere condolences for your loss. - Posted by: Ted Power (Business Associate) on: Jul 21, 2021

  • Ken was a Great Guy and a Good Friend. He will be Missed. - Posted by: Leslie Gros (Friend) on: Apr 04, 2017

  • I first met Ken in 1984 on our way to a Ducks Unlimited auction in northern Ontario. He was truly larger than life then and he remained so through our last phone conversations this winter. Ken always wore a friendly and sometimes mischievous smile, whether it be driving through snow storms on a remote stretch of highway, working centre stage, or smoking a cigar with fishing rod in hand. I'm grateful that Ken shared some of his time with me and proud that he was my friend. The world is a lesser place without him and he is greatly missed. - Posted by: Dave Thomson (Friend and fishing partner) on: Apr 12, 2016

  • Ken brought smiles to faces wherever he went. He was a first class auctioneer, person and friend. He gave freely his time and skills to many charity auctions that I was involved with. He may be gone, but he will be long and lovingly remembered. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Mick Howland (Friend) on: Apr 11, 2016
