ERNESTO VELA ALVARADO
Date of Passing: Mar 23, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNESTO VELA ALVARADO It is with unbearable sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Ernesto Vela Alvarado, on March 23, 2016. Ernesto will always be remembered by his family: his eldest son Ernesto Vela and Amra Kulenovic, his younger son Carlos Vela and Claire Falgui, our mother Julia Baires-Arauz, his mother-in-law Carmen A. Martinez, his brother Guillermo Vela and Doris Vela, his friend from infancy Mauricio Diaz and all his friends and colleagues that were always concerned for his wellbeing and were a part of his life. Ernesto was born in San Salvador, El Salvador, May 7, 1943. He graduated as a psychologist from the University of El Salvador and as a neuropsychologist from Tulane University in New Orleans as a Fulbright Scholar. While living in El Salvador, he was professor and Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Humanities at the University of El Salvador and professor at the Central American University in San Salvador. He immigrated with his family to Canada in 1985 as a refugee from the civil war in his country. In Winnipeg, he practiced as a psychologist at the Health Sciences Centre for 25 years and worked endlessly to help refugees and immigrants assimilate to their new country through his work at the Mount Carmel Clinic and the NEEDS Centre. Literature was the world through which he engaged life, both as an insatiable reader and as a writer. We express our eternal gratitude to all his friends who visited him these last few months; those who always expressed their concern and to the caregivers at the Misericordia Health Centre who provided a warm care these past two months. A service will be held Wednesday, March 30 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). - Posted by: Eduardo Cisneros (Estudiante y amigo) on: Apr 01, 2016

- Posted by: Fredi Villalobos (Amigo y antiguo alumno) on: Mar 30, 2016

Voy a extrañar nuestras charlas. Descansa en paz compay. - Posted by: Hugo Rafael Brizuela Crespo () on: Mar 30, 2016
