ALISON HOPE ASKEWE May 5, 1958 - March 18, 2016 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alison Hope Askewe (née Perry) on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, aged 57. Alison is survived by Robert, her loving husband of over 37 years, as well as her daughter Sarah Elizabeth Jennifer, grandson Isaac, sister Deborah and brother Kirk, aunts, uncles and many cousins. Alison was predeceased by her parents, Bernard and Stephanie, sister Susan, and brother Kenn. Alison grew up in Fort Garry and attended General Byng School and Vincent Massey Collegiate. From an early age her passion for dance took hold, and she trained extensively at both the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and Winnipeg's Contemporary Dancers. An interest in nursing led her to enroll at the Grace Hospital School of Nursing and Red River Community College, and in later years, the University of Manitoba. Along with her siblings, Alison had an appreciation for music and drama, and also enjoyed writing. Her most cherished role was as wife, mother, and proud grandmother. She also had a special place in her heart for the family feline, Molly. Alison was a believer in the risen Lord Jesus Christ and took Him as her personal Saviour. She and Robert attended services and Bible studies at Christ Centered Worship Church. Alison was a special soul who will be deeply missed, but we find comfort that though she is now absent from her body, her spirit is at peace with the Lord. Cremation has taken place; at Alison's request, there will be no service. A private family gathering of remembrance will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Grace Hospital ICU for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Revelation 21:4
