DANIEL LELIEVELD April 6, 1924 - March 27, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Daan, on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, at the age of 91 years. Daan will be forever missed by Nellie, his loving wife of 61 years; children, Rob (LuAnn), June (Todd) and Sandra (Norm). He was a beloved Opa to Ainsley and Sarah, Leeanne (Andrew), Trevor (Christine) and Marlee, Mallory and Jody. He was blessed with one great-grandchild, Carsyn. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Keith Miller in 2006. On April 6, 1924, Daan was born in Den Haag, The Netherlands. He came to Canada with his new bride in 1955 and joined the Canadian Armed Forces Band. He was a gifted musician and music arranger. Daan had many interests including bridge, chess and pastry baking. He was an avid soccer fan and player, but his greatest love was tennis. He was a 25-year member of the Taylor Tennis Club, retiring only one year ago. We will miss Daan's witty sense of humour. He was a kind and gentle man with a strong love for his family. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles Street, Winnipeg, with Rev. Fr. Peter Nemcek, presiding. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Grace Hospital 5 North for their compassionate care (especially Vilma).
