HUGO E. PAULS Hugo E. Pauls was born on October 14, 1933, to John J. and Aganetha (Enns) Pauls in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He grew up in the Domain / LaSalle area. Hugo attended school in the Domain / LaSalle area until Grade 11. He attended M.B.C.I. in Winnipeg for Grade 12. After graduation, Hugo spent four years working on the family farm. He worked at Manitoba Hydro starting in September 1956, and retired on June 30, 1993 (almost 37 years). On April 3, 1971 Hugo married Kay Siemens; they welcomed two children, John (1973) and Kathy (1978). He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who put his family first. Hugo accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in the Domain Mennonite Brethren Church, where he was a member until it closed in 1980. In March of 1981, the family joined the Portage Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church where he attended until his passing. Hugo enjoyed various activities throughout his life, including bowling, chess, and watching sports. He spent many hours on genealogy and helping out in the church where needed. Hugo E. Pauls passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on March 31, 2016. He was predeceased by his mother, Aganetha Pauls in 1968, his father, John J. Pauls in 1980, and his brother-in-law, John Peters in 2000. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Kay; his son John (Karen) Pauls and their two children, Gavin and Korbin; his daughter Kathy (Todd) Farrell and their three children, Noah, Easton, and Emma. Viewing will take place at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main St., Winnipeg, Manitoba at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, and at the church prior to the service. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, at Portage Avenue Church, 1420 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba. Interment to follow at LaSalle Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hugo's memory to Square One World Media or a charity of your choice. Friends Funeral Service, 204-339-5555.
