RUDOLPH (RAY) DOREY 1926 - 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rudolph (Ray) Dorey at the age of 90, on Saturday, April 2, 2016, with his family by his side. He is survived by his loving partner of 20 years, Donna Berzuk, daughter Patricia (Joe) Sidoli, daughter-in-law Elizabeth Dorey, and his extended family, Cindy (Mike) Mathes and Brent (Cindy "CJ") Berzuk. Loving Grampa, "Boompa" to Tom (Stephanie), Paul (Malaika), Danielle, Samantha, Alyssa, Mitchell, Andrew, Kyle and Lucas. He was predeceased by parents Frank and Annie, brother Adam (Rose), sister Edna and brother-in-law Karl Hendrick, and by his beloved son Randy. Ray was born in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan and spent his early years working on the family farm, where he developed his "animal whisperer" skills. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force at the young age of 17 during the Second World War. In 1946 he moved to Winnipeg where he married Eleanor Thomas in 1950. Coinciding with the birth of his second child, he started Ray's Delivery Service in 1953. He also worked as a Purchasing Agent at Kelly Roberts Restaurant Supplies and eventually as the Manager of the Centennial Concert Hall from 1971 until he retired in 1991. Except for his final years Ray was a very healthy and active man who enjoyed golfing, downhill skiing, curling, dancing, cooking, singing, playing cards and his annual trips to Maui. He was a member for 58 years and a past president of the Barbershop Harmony Society and a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was a very kind, protective and generous man and will be sorely missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him. At Dad's request there will be no formal service. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ray's name to Deer Lodge Centre Foundation or the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund. The family would like to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Hasdan and the nursing staff of Tower 4 at Deer Lodge Centre for their care and compassion.

I knew Mr. Dorey for 13 years while I worked at the Concert Hall. I remember him as a kind man with a great sense of humor and a genuine caring for the front of house staff. I have many wonderful memories of the stories he would love to tell me and the other bartenders long after the house lights had gone down and we were cashing-out for the evening.
