Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD STARDOM It's with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our husband, father and grandfather, Edward David John Stardom, age 78, on April 14, 2016, in Winnipeg, MB. Edward is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marjorie Stardom of Winnipeg; his mother Nellie Stardom of Anola, MB; his son, Ken Stardom (Laurie) of Saskatoon; his daughter Janice Stardom (Kevin Candline) of Winnipeg; his son Derek of Winnipeg; five grandchildren, Season (Justin), Jasmin, Brett, Camron and Nicole; his brother Stan Stardom; his sister Helen Shannon; his sister Bonnie Jaques (Robert), as well as many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Marian Stardom of Anola, MB, and his son, Lyle Stardom of Winnipeg. Edward was born on March 24, 1938 in Winnipeg, to parents Marian and Nellie Stardom. He was a committed husband and father, and his grandchildren meant the world to him. He started working at the Canadian National Railway at the age of 17 as a Carman and retired as a supervisor after 38 years of service. Ed started Ed's Transfer, a moving company in 1971. He was very involved and respected in local community sports as a player and coach. After retirement Ed would be seen riding his bike or walking around Transcona and would stop to socialize with many along the way. He enjoyed outdoor activities and travel with family and friends. He was best known for his smile and sense of humour. He has left us all with many fond memories, lessons learned and warm hearts. The family would like to thank the Hospital Home Team for their support to Marge and Derek in the passionate care of Edward. Special thanks to Edward's niece Mandy Barkman for bedside prayers. In keeping with Edward's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering is planned. In lieu of flowers, those who wish can make a donation in Edward's honour to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

My condolences to the family. My best memories of Ed are his smile and friendly personality which I see in his children and grandchildren. A number of us Transcona ladies were fortunate to have Ed as our baseball coach in junior high when no one else was available to coach or had the time; Ed took the time.He made sure we worked hard and had fun. He was always positive and had the ability to see past our teenage attitudes and laugh with us. What a great perspective he had on live. Decades later, he would still remember your name when he saw you and took the time to smile and chat. Many of us have great memories of those days and still laugh about it today. God Bless! - Posted by: Christal O'Brien-Frejuk (Friend) on: Apr 21, 2016

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Ed. We met many years ago and worked together a the CNR. He was the kind of guy that always kept things light and happy at work. He will be missed by many co-workers and good friends. Thinking of the family at this time, Ed was a great guy! - Posted by: Robert Hooper (Friend) on: Apr 16, 2016

Ed was a very good friend of mine and will be sorely missed... I had the pleasure of working with Ed at CNR as both Carman & Supervisors (we made a great team) and kept in touch even after retirement. We enjoyed our camping trips in the Rockies and road trips across the States. Ed always kept me smiling and laughing with his witty humor. - Posted by: Gerry Desharnais (Friend) on: Apr 16, 2016
