Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHINDA RITTER September 10, 1937 - April 3, 2016 With heavy hearts, the family announces the passing of Hinda Ritter, following a brief illness, at the age of 78. Surrounded by her loved ones, and holding the hands of her daughters, Hinda left this world peacefully on Sunday, April 3, 2016. She is lovingly remembered and survived by her husband and best friend of 57 years, Sidney, her children Michael (Flynn Gerb), Beth-Caren Goldberg (Bobby), Alan (Jennifer), and Andrea, and her sister Elsa Swedko (the late Norman). Her memory will live on in her beloved grandchildren, Zachary, Jessica and Stefanie Goldberg, Halley Ritter, Brianna and Madeline Ritter, and Francie and Sari Goldenberg. Hinda was born in Montreal, grew up in Ottawa, and moved to Winnipeg following her marriage to Sidney. She built a beautiful home for her family, filled with love and commitment to her community. Always welcoming, Hinda fully understood the importance of friendship and kindness to others, through both words and deeds, and instilled these traits in her children. The volunteer work she undertook, often in her quiet manner, benefitted countless individuals and organizations throughout her life. Her home was always open, and she was happiest when surrounded by the warmth and laughter of her family and her great friends whom she regarded as family as well. Hinda's family extends its most sincere gratitude to the wonderful physicians, residents, students, nurses and staff on GD4 at Health Sciences Centre, all of whom treated Hinda with tremendous care and kindness. Thanks to the compassion of these incredible people, Hinda was able to live her final days with a great degree of comfort, humour and the dignity she so richly deserved. Funeral services were held on April 5, 2016, at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue, with interment at the Rosh Pina Memorial Park. Contributions in Hinda's memory may be made to The Jewish Foundation of Manitoba, or to a charity of your choice.
