Date of Passing: Apr 16, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHLEEN (KAY) EDNA ZUBRISKI (nee NICHOLAS) It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen Zubriski on April 16, 2016 at The Port Colborne Hospital at the age of 88. Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Steve. She is survived by her daughters Dianne Catton (Roy) and Janet Furnival (John) and by her son Gordon Zubriski (Nancy), her grandchildren Steven, Scott, Sarah, Nicholas and James, great-grandchild Sophie, her sister Jessie Daniell and brother Alec Nicholas as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Kathleen was born in London, England and immigrated to Canada as a young woman where she met and married Steve. Kathleen and Steve made their home in Winnipeg, Manitoba followed by a move to Esterhazy, Saskatchewan where they owned and operated a small dry-cleaning business. Following Steve's death, Kathleen moved her family back to Winnipeg. In 1979, Kathleen moved to Southern Ontario in search of a milder climate and spent many happy years in St. Catharines, Ontario. In 1996 she moved into the granny suite' with her daughter Janet and family in Jordan, Ontario. Mom often remarked that Jordan Station was her favorite of all the places she had lived. Kay was a gifted artist and crafter and was happiest in her home with a knitting or embroidery project on the go. Her family will cherish the many sweaters, blankets and bunka embroidery pieces she created over the years. She was an animal lover and doted on the cats and dogs that passed through her life. She loved nature and particularly enjoyed watching the birds and deer in her backyard in Jordan. Mom was a kind and gentle woman who will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the nurses of the palliative care unit of the Port Colborne Hospital for their care. Cremation has taken place. A private family service is planned for June. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Online condolences at www.tallmanfuneralhomes.ca

We are all so very sorry to hear of your loss. It is so hard to believe you had moved away so long ago. It seems like yesterday we were hanging out together. Many changes through the years. So many memories of all of you and especially the kindness of your mom. She was always so happy. We still look at your house when we drive by. Still looks the same. Take care and God Bless you all. - Posted by: Frances, Adele, Nettie & Lawrence Chuckree (Winnipeg friends) on: Apr 23, 2016
