OTTO KLEIN It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Otto Klein on April 23, 2016 at Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Tabea, of 67 years and son Dieter (Marlene); daughters, Marita (Hans Rasing), Karin (Werner Batke) as well as five granddaughters; four great-grandsons and many nieces and nephews in Canada and Germany. He was predeceased by his parents and five siblings. Born on September 15, 1923 in Gundersdorf-Sudetenland, in former Czechoslovakia. He met Tabea in Germany after the Second World War and they married December 29, 1948 and started their family. Together they made the decision to immigrate to Canada in 1963 to unite with Tabea's family. Otto was always a keen outdoorsman and in Canada he had the perfect opportunity to pursue his dream of hunting and fishing. He was especially proud that his children shared his passion for the outdoors and until the age of 82 was still joining his family and friends on their yearly hunting trips. Otto was known for his gardening skills and had the earliest crops of vegetables in the neighbourhood. Everyone in the family loved receiving his homemade applesauce. He retired from Versatile Farm Equipment in 1989 and was a 45 year member of the German Canadian Society of Winnipeg and the St. Hubertus Hunting and Fishing Club. Otto had a very dry sense of humour and enjoyed a good time with family and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Peter Kuegle, his family physician, palliative care staff, as well as the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital on the 3rd Floor Unit 7, for their compassion and caring. In keeping with his wishes, Otto has been cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held in his honour on Wednesday, April 27 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be in Otto's memory to CancerCare Manitoba. Cropo Funeral Chapel, 204-586-8044
