ANNA MANSKY June 16, 1932 - April 27, 2016 In the early hours of April 27, at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, Ann Mansky passed away surrounded by family. She is survived by Lloyd, her husband of 63 years, her four children, Brian (Wendy), Sheryl Baird, Christopher (Sonya) and Lorne (Doris), grandchildren Graeme, Karlyn, Kristin, Erik, Ainzli and Sara. She is also survived by her brothers Ben (Mary) and George (Trudi) Thiessen, sisters Mary (John Schwitteck) and Marjorey Dwornick, as well as one aunt, three sisters-in-law, (Violet, Bernice and Claire), and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Katherina Thiessen, Lloyd's parents, one brother Jacob and one sister Kay. Ann was born in Southern Manitoba, where her Mennonite roots established her dedication to family and her strong work ethic. She was a highly intelligent, energetic, and accomplished woman. She and Lloyd raised four children, and with him, successfully ran three businesses; Munroe Husky, Adams Motel and then established Crane Towing. Her cooking skills were legendary and her pie crust was not to be matched. For a period of time she was an in-home demonstrator of Pantry Products which gave her the opportunity to share her skills. She sewed beautifully and took up quilting, becoming a member of the Quarry Quilters group in Stonewall for many years. Like most quilters, she created an impressive array of beautiful quilts which she shared with those of us fortunate enough to receive one as a gift. Through the years, she and Lloyd enjoyed building a cottage at Pointe du Bois and travelling included a large part of Canada, the U.S., Australia and Portugal. The family would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care program that supported Ann's wish to remain in her home as long as possible during her illness. She was admitted to the Riverview Health Centre on April 17, where she remained until her death. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview who tirelessly provided compassion and kindness both to Ann and her family. Thanks go to all the nurses, and especially to Doctors Kroeker, and St. Goddard, and Dr. McLeod, her family physician. We would also like to thank all those people who visited and brought food to the house during her illness. Ann requested that there be no funeral. Cremation has taken place. A gathering of friends and family is planned with a date yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice or the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Alzheimer Association. Remember her in the sound and smell of a soft summer rain.

I have known Ann the last year or so. And from the day I met her she held a special place in my heart. I told her of this. It was her smile. Her spark. Something about her. I just knew she was a genuine person that I loved to see a few times a week! Rip Ann. I will never forget you. - Posted by: Lisa (Friend) on: May 19, 2016

I admired Ann because she was not afraid to tell it like it is. That attitude was refreshing given the culture she was raised in. Often that straightforward talk caused laughter and smoothed over what might have been rough spots. While she is not in pain anymore, I know that her children and family will miss her being at the end of the end of the phone line or the email to share their triumphs and heartaches. But I am sure she will be watching and still caring about each and every one of you. - Posted by: Sharon Thiessen-Woods (cousin) on: May 10, 2016

Ann was a great cousin, and I loved her sense of humour. My prayers for the entire family are for peace. I'm sure you will all miss Ann - but she is free of pain and sickness now! RIP Ann Helen & Jake Froese - Posted by: Helen Froese (cousin) on: May 06, 2016
