Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE KATE (KITTY) SILVER (nee WEINBERG) March 13, 1920 - April 12, 2016 On Tuesday, April 12, 2016, Kitty Silver passed away at the Saul and Claribel Simkin Centre in Winnipeg at the age of 96 years. She was born in London, England to the late Jack and Minnie Weinberg and came to Winnipeg at the age of two. She was predeceased by her husband, Abram Silver, her sisters and their husbands, Sadie and Dave Braverman and Birdie and Hy Geller. Lovingly remembered by her children Marvin, Arnold, Barry (Ethel Johnston), Brenda Silver (Gabi Vamos) and Morris (Gillian Woodfield), her grandchildren Susan (Masa), Kathy (Neil), Roberta (Ryan), Adrienne, Carla, Tannis (Drew), Shauna, David, Richard, Alan, Abram and his brothers Daniel (Nena) and Steven, and great-grandchildren, Chloe, Ryden, Regan, Rhea, Jacob, Mia and Zachary. Kitty is also lovingly remembered by her brother-in-law Dave Silver, and many other family members including numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Kitty was always a positive person and had a zest for life at all its stages. Raising five children while assisting her husband in his business, Kitty still found time to volunteer and contribute to society through the Mount Carmel Clinic, B'nai Abraham Synagogue and Sisterhood, General Monash Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Jewish Child and Family Services and other organizations. Friday night card games with family and friends, Shabbat suppers, High Holidays, Passover seders, birthdays, bar and bat mitzvahs, bowling and mahjong rounded out her full days. Kitty made it look easy, dancing through life on and off the dance floor. Kitty enjoyed traveling in Canada, the USA, England and Israel to sightsee and visit family and friends. Throughout her life Kitty supported her children in all their endeavours. She gave them the freedom to run their lives, and they are forever thankful. It is their hope that their lives honour her. Marvin's bothers and sister would like to acknowledge his dedication in caring for their mother during her latter years. Many thanks to the staff and volunteers of the following organizations: Manitoba Home Care Program, Luther Home Day Program, Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre, the Asper Community Centre Stay Young Program, and the Saul and Claribel Simkin Centre. The care and support Dr. Tim Ross provided to Kitty and her family are greatly appreciated. Kitty's funeral was held Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Congregation Etz Chayim. Interment was at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. Rabbi Larry Lander and Cantor Tracy Kasner Greaves officiated. Pallbearers were Barry Braverman, Joel Geller, Daniel Kravetsky, Hillel Kravetsky, Marshall Maslovsky and Lanny Silver. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre or a charity of your choice.
