LANA CHAN (nee CHOW) Peacefully on April 26, 2016 at Grace General Hospital, Lana Chan, aged 78 years passed away with family at her bedside. She was predeceased by her beloved husband William. Lana will be lovingly remembered by son Tim and wife Juvy; daughter Shirley Parr and husband Vincent; son Garry and wife Dora; son Paul; two grandsons, David and Christopher; and a granddaughter Avery; brother-in-law Victor Chan and wife Moniza, all of Winnipeg; sister Wun-Cheung Ng of Ottawa, Ontario; sister-in-law Tsui Kum Low of Calgary, Alberta; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and their families. She was predeceased by her father Jew Then Baw, mother Yu Yee Baw, brother Jack Chow, brother-in-law Kam Fon Chan and wife Helen, and brother-in-law Seer Lin Low. Lana was born in Canton, China. She moved to Hong Kong in 1957 when she married William. In 1958, she immigrated to Canada. She made Winnipeg her home where she diligently raised 4 children while her husband worked at Chan's Cafe. In 1974, she joined her husband in running the family business, Blue Diamond Restaurant. She retired in 1996 after which time she enjoyed gardening, babysitting her loving grandchildren, and hosting the always anticipated regular Saturday evening family dinners. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the ICU staff at Grace General Hospital. As well, the family would like to thank Cousin Susan Ngai of Ottawa, Uncles Victor Chan and Yen C Chan of Winnipeg, who helped and guided them through this difficult time. Viewing will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home at 4000 Portage Avenue followed by the funeral services on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. 204-885-9715
