CATHY MARIE BILAWSKI It is with extreme sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Cathy Bilawski-Dearborn, with family by her side, on Monday, March 28, 2016, at the age of 51 years, at Concordia Hospital, after an ongoing illness. Cathy is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Craig Dearborn; mother Jean Bilawski; brother Dennis (Mandi) Bilawsky and Ayana; brother Larry (Kim) Bilawsky; beloved fur-baby Isis; as well as numerous aunties, uncles, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her grandparents and her father, Eugene Bilawski. On July 4, 1964, Cathy was born in Steinbach, Manitoba and grew up on the family farm in Zhoda, Manitoba. She was an accomplished student, attending and graduating from Vita Shevchenko School, where she often won awards of excellence in Ukrainian studies. After graduating high school, Cathy worked at the Vita Credit Union for nine years as a teller. It was during this time that she met Craig and after years of dating, the couple married in 1993 and moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Cathy enjoyed various trips to Edmonton, Alberta, visiting her cousin Mary Anne and family, as well as attending numerous music and entertainment venues with family and friends. Her favourite times were coming out to the farm and savouring the warm sunshine on the patio or playing with kittens at uncle Bill's and auntie Anne's. Reading and watching TV were among her favourite pastimes. Cathy especially loved reminiscing with family and friends, and having a good laugh. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Cathy's Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Highway 52 West, Steinbach, MB. Interment will follow in the Zhoda Community Cemetery, Zhoda, MB. The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia ICU, as well as Cathy's homecare workers for their care and support.
