JAMES W. MALKOSKE August 11, 1951 - May 4, 2016 After his second battle with cancer, Jim passed away peacefully at HSC at age 64, with his loving wife Maureen by his side. His memory will forever be cherished by Maureen Harrison, and his children Elizabeth Peterson, grandchildren Layne and Evva, and Matt Malkoske, (Michelle) and grandsons Zander and Jaxson, Maureen's daughters Erin and Sara (Colin) and grandson Finley. Jim is also mourned by his mother Marie Malkoske, brother Glenn Malkoske (Carolein), sister Aderienne Newbury (John), brother Merwyn Malkoske (Jan) sister Alyson Impey (Mitch) and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. Jim was predeceased by his father Henry Malkoske in 2007 and sister Kimberly in infancy. Born in Whitemouth, Jim was the first child and grandchild. He grew up with a strong work ethic and spent his summers helping on the family farm in Whitemouth. He attended school in Steinbach and got his agriculture diploma at the University of Manitoba. Jim settled in Winnipeg where he lived for the last 36 years, working and raising his children. He was a member of the AA group in Windsor Park where he mentored many, taking time to be with those who needed his help. Jim was an avid gardener and in 2012 he semi retired to pursue another passion, home renovations. Above all else, Jim cherished his family. He was his daughter's best friend and his son's biggest fan. He was always there to help his family, recognizing the importance of being surrounded by that family; a value he passed on to his children. Funeral service will be held Monday, May 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. with Karen Toole presiding. Private family interment will take place in Whitemouth. The family heartily thanks the incredible staff at CancerCare Manitoba and HCS, Dr. Viallet, the palliative care team, and the amazing staff GH5. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9. I didn't know Jim personally. I met him a few times at Trailblazers Life Choices. I have been friends with Liz, Layne & Evva for years. They always have been there for me. Now it's my turn to be there for them. Don't worry Jim, I'll take care of them for you. Love, Shaun Arbuckle XOXOXO - Posted by: Shaun Arbuckle (Friend of Liz, Layne & Evva ) on: Jun 12, 2016

Jim was passionate about gardening and always had a showcase yard. He passed that trait in to both Liz and Matt. His booming laugh was passed on to Matt. He will be thought of everytime Matt laughs. - Posted by: Charlene Ashton (Friend) on: May 07, 2016
