Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY NIELSEN (nee SCARTH) It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Dorothy Nielsen on Friday, April 29, 2016 at the age of 88 years. Left to lovingly remember Dorothy are her devoted husband of 57 years, Erik; sons, Rick (Wendy) and Jim (Lynne); and grandchildren, Kameron and Keandra. She is also survived by her sister, Beatrice Parkin (Reg) and sister-in-law Rose (Herb). She was predeceased by her brothers Donald (Mary), John Rowland "Rolly" (Elsie), Dick (Kay), Arthur, Herb and Edward (Norma), as well as her sister, Violet Glendenning (Jack). On February 22, 1928 Dorothy (Dot) was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she resided until her passing. Dorothy and Erik loved to spend their summers at Jessica Lake with family and friends at the family cottage. She will always be remembered for her kindness, willingness to help others and her sense of humour. Dorothy was always able to see the lighter side of situations. She will also be remembered for the need to feed anyone and everyone that walked through the door. She worked at Eaton's, the CBC Employees Credit Union and the CBC. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 in Canad Inns Fort Garry, 1824 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg, at 5:00 p.m., doors open at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Seven Oaks General Hospital, 2300 McPhillips Street, Winnipeg, MB, R2V 3M3.
