ELIZA-LYNNE GERALDINE GLEDHILL (nee THOMSON) With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Geri Gledhill on May 1, 2016 at the Victoria General Hospital. Geri is predeceased by her parents Ethel and Sandy and brother Tom. She will be deeply missed by daughter Tracey Gledhill, brother Gary (Susan), nephew Graeme Thomson, close friends and coworkers. Born January 7, 1949 she lived her life in Winnipeg, though not an avid traveller, she spent many wonderful summers at Toniata Beach, Falcon Lake. She began her working career at the University of Manitoba Computer Services department when the computers and mainframe took up most of the 6th floor of the Engineering building. Geri's last position was in the Information Services and Technology within the Computer network Services still on the 6th floor of the Engineering building. With over 40 years' service, she retired in February of 2014. Geri had an adventurous mind and strong determination; a fun loving spirit though irascible disposition. She participated in many sports throughout her life, from ice skating, swimming, tennis, racket ball, curling and golf. She spent many happy years at the Winnipeg Canoe Club, St. Boniface Golf Club and Granite Curling Club. She touched many lives with her unique character and left lasting impressions on all that she did. Geri lived her own life. She left us too soon, but her memories will live on. Geri will be missed by longtime friends Kelly and Sharon. A special "Thank You" to all the wonderful staff on 4 South. Hugs to Manny and Karen for their compassion and strength during my Moms final days. Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 11 at 1:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). In honour of Geri's memory, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9 or to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 9Z9.
