ANGUS (GUS) TULLY TEAGUE On May 3, 2016, Angus, loving husband to his wife Joan, passed away at his home at the age of 79. Surviving are his loving wife Joan; sons Cameron (Audrey), Bruce (Karen); daughters Brenda (Lloyd), Krys (Dennis); grandchildren Adam, Jessica, Danielle, Kurtis and many nieces and nephews. Angus was predeceased by his brothers Al and Jack. Angus was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on August 7, 1936. He immigrated to Winnipeg in 1957, met Joan in 1958 and they married in 1960. Angus (Gus) was a true entertainer, staring in ice shows in Edinburgh, performing in Schmockey night, MC for the Buffalo BBQs and performing comedy routines in many clubs around the city with his brother Al. During that time he also had a successful talent agency, "The Teague Brothers". Angus and Al also owned and operated Westwood Glass and Kents Music, in St. James. In his later year Angus enjoyed his home in Charleswood that he custom built, and his years at his cottage on Eleanor Lake with family. Dad was known as a Jack of all trades and always wanted to make people laugh from telling his famous jokes. Spreading his laughter in so many ways to so many people. Angus was a member of the YMCA for 60 years and loved his morning with his "Y" buddies and Tim Hortons buddies; thank you for all the laughs. Love you forever daddy. Always in our hearts, always in in our minds, me too Joannie xo. "Did I ever tell you, you are my hero, everything I wish I could be." Cremation has taken place and at Angus's request there is no service, but please leave your favourite Gus stories on: http://passages.winnipegfreepress.com/ In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Winnipeg Humane Society, http://www.winnipeghumanesociety.ca/ways-to-help/donate/ or donorinfor@heartandstroke.ca. • Gus you were like a second father to me! I could talk to you about anything I wanted, loved hanging out with you and going to the Y and constantly joking and cracking jokes of course. Gus you were my best friend my Buddy I really do miss your voice and your presence. Hugs and kisses and squeezing buns was a normal thing to do on our Hi's and Bye's. I really do miss you Gus. "Where is your other hand? In between two pillows, those aren't pillows. Love you Gus - Posted by: Dennis beekhuizen (son-in-law) on: May 25, 2016

  • He's always with you Krys. Absolutely positive of that. xoxoxo *Another story* - I remember when your Dad moved you guys on to Wilkes Avenue and the first time I came to see your new home. It was the wildest ranch house, full of mirrors and stuffed animals...literally, it was very wild. I came one weekend and Krys said "close your eyes" and you guided me down the stairs - then she said "look up!" "My Dad put it up there"... "it's a buffalo head" she exclaimed - "outrageous" and very Gus...and so the Teague mansion went "country" in '77 in the South end. Being older now, I do have a thing about taxidermy...but they were mostly roadkill or died in the wild, I don't think Gus would hurt a fly. I'm absolutely positive at that time though, that your Dad thought they were beautiful as well as your Mom. Gus loved nature as well as the chicken coop he built and the stable with the horses. I was raised on fluorescent yellow yolked eggs - how brilliant to show your children how to raise chickens (and ducks). Really fond memories as they got out of suburban St. James to be in the outdoors. It was quite the home Gus and Joan! - Posted by: Eve Rice (friend) on: May 25, 2016

  • Dear Daddy, 3 weeks ago today, I miss you so, I am still here talking to you, love you forever Daddy!!! Always in my Heart, my Soul my Mind xoxoxo - Posted by: Krys Teague (Daughter) on: May 24, 2016

  • Gus Teague was like a second Father to me. I am a close friend to Gus's daughter and remember him being a genius with humour, outrageous at times and very kind. (I say outrageous as he even got a perm when his wife had one - it was the 70s... tres chic!) I remember foot stomping and accordians and many weekends and rides in the back of the pickup truck to spend the weekend at the family's home. During some hard times, he never questioned or made me or anyone for that matter feel bad. He just accepted you. All is fine. I never felt afraid around him. I think this is what Gus's philosophy on life was - "just do it". You'll mess up but you'll learn from what you're doing. Amongst so many memories that included staying at the cottage at Eleanor Lake. I also remember this random road trip. One in particular was while we entered Fargo N.D. We were looking for Chinese food and recall myself exclaiming "there's a restaurant ...it's called "K-Chan"." Everyone looked and Gus laugh and said "it says "ice cream!" I was embarrassed but realized it was so crazy to have blurted this out. We made jokes about this the whole weekend we were there. I could live it down, no big deal. It was super funny. Thankyou for being kind, cool and a friend Mr. Teague, Love from Eve ps: Gus loved his dog Prince - I'm sure they are hanging out a fair bit now. - Posted by: Eve Rice (Friend) on: May 24, 2016

  • Gus and I go back where I met him at the YMCA at Portage Ave West. He would come around 6:30-7pm every morning except on Saturday and Sunday he come a little late. What a character Gus was and and still his. He would crack a joke and we all laugh!! Being British myself and l having my English accent Gus and I would have our moments. One day when I came in he forgot his card in the locker. I took it to the reception and I looked at the card it was Gus with this hat on. When I saw him the next day I ask him why do you have a hat on in the photo on your locker card? He told me he went to a fancy dress party and decide to bring it to the YMCA and have his photo taken because he said it looked go on him. Lol. One day I forgot my swimming shorts and Gus came to the rescue again when I forgot my swimming googles. One day I came late and he comments was its not bank hours here!!! He was a great comedy. Gus I going to miss you( and I think the rest of YMCA people that know you). Today I came back after back injury and was told of the sad news. I always look at the locker that you use every morning I think of you standing there and making jokes to everyone around you. Going to miss you Gus. RIP. - Posted by: Joseph Halyckyj (Friend(YMCA)) on: May 17, 2016

  • Back in the 1960s out at the lake (Eleanor Lake) Gus and my Dad (Jim Furey) often partied and made music together, Gus with his accordion and Dad with his fiddle. They shared a few drinks and partied til the wee hours! - Posted by: Joyce (Furey) Joyal () on: May 07, 2016
