ANDRE OSCAR CATRYSSE June 20, 1922 - May 5, 2016 Peacefully, with his family at his side at the family farm in Teulon, Andy died at the age of 93 years. He leaves his wife of 71 years, Genowefa; his daughters, Levica Feys (Walter), June Catrysse, Christine Tronrud (Mark), 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his daughter, Andrea Klochko in 2008. Born and raised in Belgium, he immigrated to Canada in 1951 to follow his desire to own his own farm. Andy and Gene arrived in Winnipeg where they were met by Bill van dorp who drove them to their new home in Stony Mountain where they milked cows by hand for Sam Steele. In 1952, he entered into a farming partnership with Frank Van kemenade in the Stonewall area while working in Winnipeg for a construction company. In 1964, they split up the dairy, and Andy moved to Teulon where he dairy farmed until 1984. He continued to farm beef cattle until 1991 when he sold the farm to his son-in-law Mark. Andy enjoyed helping out on the farm until he was in his mid 80s. He enjoyed people and frequented the coffee shops discussing the daily events. He was blessed with good health until 90 years old. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Teulon Rockwood Centennial Center in Teulon. Interment to follow at the Windsor Cemetery. Father James DeBeer presiding. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I only met Uncle Andy and Aunty Gene once or twice, however Uncle Andy made quite the impression on me... I found him to be very funny and seemed to be a happy and content guy. Even though I did not know uncle Andy and Aunty Gene well, I will miss him as l felt the few times I had the pleasure of being in his company that he was a good person and had lived a good life, for that and all who knew him no matter how well should all be grateful they were blessed to have known Andy Catrysse. Looking forward to seeing you Uncle Andy next round in the mean time taker easy. Later.... • Gene, Levica, June and Christine and families. My sincere sympathy on Andy's passing. I have many, many fond memories of visiting and working with him on the farm and of his special support to my family when Gerry passed. I can think of many times when a stressful situation was saved by his humor and good spirited generosity. May you all be comforted by good and happy memories.
