Date of Passing: May 11, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEVEN SAMUEL FITELOVITCH Steven Samuel Fitelovitch, of Winnipeg, aged 72, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the Simkin Centre, in Winnipeg, following a lengthy and courageous battle. Steven was a loving father to his children, Jordana (Weiss) Fitelovitch and David Fitelovitch and to his son-in-law Karl Weiss and daughter-in-law Dawn Fitelovitch. He was a doting grandfather "Grandpa Slick" to Sophie Weiss, Owen Weiss and Jade Fitelovitch. Steven will also be dearly missed by his sister Linda (Knibbs) Fitelovitch and husband Alan Knibbs, sister Nancy (Coey) Fitelovitch and husband Rodney Coey, dear friend and ex-wife Cheryall Fitelovitch and her husband Robert Fetterly. Nieces and nephews, cousins and many close friends. Steven is predeceased by his parents, William Fitelovitch and Sophie (Shoob) Fitelovitch. Steven was born in Montreal and moved to Winnipeg as a teenager. He attended St. John's High School and Tech-Voc Collegiate and then graduated from the Fine Arts program at the University of Manitoba. He spent the early years of his career working in the art department at Eaton's, where he worked his way up to Art Director. After leaving Eaton's and starting his freelance business "Steven Fitelovitch Advertising", Steve became a much-respected member of Winnipeg's design community, working with many well-known businesses and donating many hours to charitable design projects. Although Steve was an award-winning artist, he remained humble throughout his career. Steve was well known for his quirky sense of humour, his impeccable sense of style, his love of art and all things beautiful and his generous spirit towards friends, family and community, especially his loving devotion towards his mother Sophie. He loved to be out and about, visiting galleries and local restaurants and could often be found hanging out on Corydon Avenue. The family would like to thank the staff at The Simkin Centre, Weinberg 1 for their years of care and to the many companions that also worked with him, in particular, Raje Vijay who treated him like family for the last two years. Steve's memory will be celebrated by all who knew him. Funeral to be held on Sunday, May 15 at 1:00 p.m., Shaarey Zedek Cemetery, 236 Armstrong Avenue, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson's Society of Manitoba or to The Winnipeg Arts Council.

Deepest sympathies to the whole family. I worked at a company called Jack Berger Ltd and later at Image Color and we worked closely with Steve and the rest of the Eatons Advertising gang and also when he was on his own. He was true professional and was one of the good guys. Lots of fond memories. - Posted by: Neil Mackie (Worked together ) on: May 16, 2016
