Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELSIE RASKE August 5, 1916 - April 25, 2016 Elsie Raske, 99, passed away on April 25, 2016, at Beacon Hill Lodge after suffering a stroke. She is survived by her son, John (Karen) Raske; granddaughter Jodi (Dan) Wilder; great-grandson Carson Wilder; great-granddaughter Karli Wilder; grandsons, Jeffrey and Jonathan Raske. She was predeceased by husband, Nick, and son, Tom. Elsie was born in Springfield, MB to parents who immigrated to Canada from the Ukraine and moved to Transcona in 1923. She married Nick Raske in 1936 and moved to Port Alice, B.C. where they lived for seven years and then returned to Transcona where they raised their two sons, Tom and John. Elsie was a charter member of Tabor Baptist Church where she worked with children's clubs, Daily Vacation Bible School, and taught Sunday School until she was 89 years old. Her love of the Bible inspired her memorization of the Scriptures. She was a member of the Transcona Horticulture Society since 1973 and was an avid gardener who loved her flowers and vegetables. Her garden was admired by many. Elsie was also on a bowling team where she found enjoyment in the game until the age of 95. A memorial service will be held May 20, 2016 at Faith Community Church, 6 Kern Drive, Transcona at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, donations can be made to the Canadian Sunday School Mission.
