Many of us knew Thelma as our President of the Manitoba Astrology Association and many had subsequently got to know her on a more intimate basis when we were students in her astrology classes. I met and grew to know Thelma when she was that teacher of mine. Her philosophy of Inclusiveness was extended into the teaching setting making everyone feel comfortable and important during the learning process which melded us into a cohesive group. Thelma was indeed an outstanding teacher. She focused on utilizing astrology as a practical and useful tool towards reaching your goals and highest potential. In essence, she was MAA’s “Mother” figure – she was successful in organizing our group to work together cooperatively for the ultimate benefit of the Association. Thelma was a “Lady” in every sense of the word and action. Only years later did we learn that she was rightfully a “Countess”. She was very polite and considerate, occasionally referencing her experiences as a teacher but never mentioning her social status. What an outstanding contribution she made to the MAA…. not only as President and teacher, but as a person who fostered genuine communication, friendship and learning in a safe and positive environment. She was most helpful and generous in sharing her knowledge, experience and teachings. Personally, I will be forever grateful to her for her instructions as to how to choose the best date and time to move into a new residence as well as her positive words of encouragement towards moving forward in life. She was a wonderfully gifted teacher with an exceedingly warm and understanding heart. Thelma will be remembered fondly and missed by all her friends at the Manitoba Astrology Association.
