PETER DOERKSEN January 14, 1925 - May 13, 2016 Peter passed away peacefully, in his home, in Duncan, BC. Peter was predeceased by his wife Betty (Elizabeth Schroeder), his son Gerald, and his brothers Abraham and Jacob. Left to mourn is his daughter Sandra (George), grandson Richard (Donna), great-grandsons Chad (Jessica), great-great-granddaughters Summer and Cassidy, Mathias and Cody (Michakla); his son Robert (Patricia), granddaughter Shannon (Martin), great-grandchildren Alasdair and Holly, grandson Robert (Deanna), great-grandchildren Kate, Devon and Jack; his daughter-in-law Anne Cimon; his brothers Isaac, John (Margaret), Dave and Harry (Dorothy), sisters Nettie and Elsie, sister-in-law Lilian, and brothers and sisters-in-law Kay, Henrietta, Tina, Bill (Betty), Dick (Marion) and Trudy Schroeder. Peter was born in Halbstadt, Manitoba in 1925 and married Elizabeth also from Halbstadt in 1946. Before Betty's death in 1988 they had lived in Winnipeg until moving to Airdrie in 1975, where Pete managed the UFA yard for many years, retiring to help his son Bob as warehouse manager for Petland. In both those jobs and life Pete always had a smile on his face and a joke to play or share. Pete umpired baseball games for many years and loved to watch his grandkids and great-grandkids play any sports. Taking all comers on at crib remained a passion till he passed. Most of all Pete loved people and made a hit wherever he was. Pete and Betty had many foster kids over the years in Winnipeg and Airdrie. Online condolences may be made to www.hwwallacecbc.com

  • Very sorry to hear of Peter's passing. Have many memories of being looked after by Pete and Betty when my brothers and I were little kids growing up across the lane from Pete, Betty, Sandra and Bob in Winnipeg. - Posted by: Donald Vokey (Neighbour when growing up) on: May 24, 2016
