JOHN STUART MCLAREN WISMAN October 30, 1951 - May 13, 2016 It is with great sadness that the family of John S. Wisman announces his sudden passing on May 13, 2016 at the age of 64 years old. He leaves behind his wife Cheryl, his parents, Nancy and Ray (Gayle). John will sadly be missed by his sisters, Shellie (John) and Patti (Greg), and his brother Taylor (Lauren). John will be lovingly remembered by his beautiful children, Nancy (Paul), Philip, Jennifer (Justin), their mother Janet, and four wonderful grandchildren who adored their grandpa, Mackenzie, Madelyn, Kipton, and Rhett. John's love for aviation led him to study at Seneca College, Aviation and Flight Technology in 1972. He finished his studies in 1975 and started his career with Lambair shortly after. He later joined Air Canada in 1978, retiring as an Air Canada Captain after 34 years of service. He lived life passionately. He had a love for music and the outdoors which included camping, biking, walking, and kayaking. While living life he was always seen with his camera in tow fulfilling his love of photography. In retirement, his new passion became his RV, travelling in Canada and the Southern States, most memorably Florida and Hilton Head, SC. Most of all John loved his family. He will sadly be missed by all his family and friends. You are forever in our hearts and loved by us all. A private celebration of John's life will be held for family in Winnipeg and Toronto. Memorial donations in memory of John can be made to Dreams Take Flight (Air Canada). "Who's to know when the time has come around, don't want to see you cry, I know this is not goodbye'' (U2 - Kite)

  • In our small graduating class at Seneca I got to know John well. We often flew together on training and mutual flights. I also did a car delivery run with John to Montreal. He was a great friend to all. Please let me know about the celebration in Toronto. - Posted by: George Thackray (Fellow graduate of AFT 1975 at Seneca College ) on: May 22, 2016

  • I have very fond memories of John and Cheryl, in Maui, many years ago. They both went out of thier way , to make us feel welcome. Since then, we have shared grand children stories, and their new adventures, in the R.V. My sincere condolences to my dear friend Cheryl, and family. Happy trails, John. You will be missed. xo - Posted by: Andrea Cross (friend) on: May 19, 2016

  • I had the pleasure of getting to know Capt. Wisman when I arrived as a new Air Canada First Officer in Winnipeg. He was a gracious and inspiring man who served as an example for a new hire such as myself. A few years later I had the opportunity to get to know him a little bit better as I helped out with ACPA business. Then I came to appreciate his service to his fellow pilots in various roles. Given what I got to know of him at work, I can only imagine how devoted a husband, father and grandfather he was. It is my hope that all those family members and friends grieving in this time of loss will gain some comfort from the great memories we all share. Clear skies and tailwinds always! - Posted by: Travis Crowe (fellow pilot) on: May 19, 2016

  • Nancy, Philip and Jennifer I'm very saddened to hear about the sudden passing of your Dad. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time of loss. May all of your fond memories of the special times spent with your Dad be with you always. Find comfort in the knowledge that the first time your Dad held each of you in his hands, you were loved unconditionally. He will always be the first man to have loved you with such devotion. - Posted by: Yvette Alarie (Family friend) on: May 18, 2016
