Surrounded by love and caring, Mary passed away May 16th, 2016 at River Park Gardens, Winnipeg. At 100 years of age the family was blessed to have her in our lives for so long. Mary was born to Mabel and Peter McCorquodale on November 18, l915 and grew up on the family farm, southwest of Boissevain, Manitoba. She developed a lifetime love of horses. As a young woman she moved to Winnipeg where she met and married in 1945, John (Mac) MacDonald. Their daughter Brenda was born in 1946. With the opening of Polo Park Mall, Mary was employed at Simpsons Sears until her retirement in 1980. Mom's 100th birthday was special and celebrated by family and the nursing home. Mary was predeceased by her parents, husband John in 1993,and her dear sister Lorna Vale in 2002. Many relatives gone before her are in the Boissevain Cemetery. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Morley Plummer. Nana will be remembered with love by granddaughter and husband, Jennifer and Damon Martin and grandson Jared and his wife, Kimmie Patterson. G.G. leaves many memories with great granddaughters, Emerson, Makenna, and Taryn Martin. Sheila Martin, (Damon's mom) was a good friend to Mary through the years. "Aunt Mary" will be fondly remembered by many members of her husband's first family; daughter-in-law Marie, Gary (deceased) MacDonald and family from Transcona, the families of Grant and Eileen MacDonald (both deceased) and stepson Duane and Billie MacDonald of MacGregor, Manitoba. Cremation has taken place. This summer mom will be returned to her country roots and be placed in the family plot in the Boissevain Cemetery. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to all staff at River Park Gardens for the loving care, support, and respect mom received while she resided with you from (2014-2016). All of you treated us like family. Thank you to Riverwood Square, Harmony Court, Strauss House, for the wonderful care mom received from (2009-2013). If friends so desire, donations made to River Park Gardens, 735 St. Anne's Road, Winnipeg, R2N 0C4 or The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba would be appreciated. "Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and still very dear".
