MARY ELLEN ANNETTE GAUTHIER (nee CHASSE) August 22, 1936 - May 11, 2016 It is with a most heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our precious Mom. Her good nature and generosity touched everyone she met. She supported and encouraged us through every obstacle in our lives. She laughed with us in the happy times and cried with us in sad times. She will be remembered as someone who had a big heart, tremendous work ethic and displayed a unique talent in anything she tried. She was an amazing seamstress, a prize winning artist, and a homemaker "extraordinaire". Mom's passions included gardening, art, crafting, collecting antiques, golf and, above all, her family. She cherished her times with Dad during their winter holidays to Texas. She especially enjoyed our many family gatherings. Mom had an infectious laugh and a sense of humour we will truly miss. Mom (Nana) doted on her grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to shower them with love and gifts. She never missed a birthday or special occasion. Above all she loved her family and extended family with a passion and warmth that you could feel when you were near her. To us our dear "ma" was the best there is, and not a day will pass where we don't think of her. Mom was born and attended school in Rolphton, ON. She met and married Lawrence (Larry) in 1957. The family moved to Pinawa, MB in 1964. After 51 happy years in Pinawa, in June 2015, Mom's declining health necessitated a move from Pinawa to an Assisted Living Facility, Woodland Courts, in Selkirk, MB. Mom's condition worsened and she was moved to Tudor House Personal Care Home in February 2016 where she remained until her passing on May 11, 2016. Our parents' 59th anniversary would have been celebrated on May 18, 2016. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Luc and Eva Chasse, her brothers Henry, Armand, and her sister Leona. She is survived by her husband Lawrence, sons Keith (Huguette), and Phil (Pearl), daughter Kathy (Dwight Dietrich), brothers Roland, Daniel, Omer, Albert, and Raymond, sisters Theresa and Alma, grandchildren Danielle, Dylan, Lucas Dietrich, and Tessa Gauthier, and great-granddaughter Ella Pichor. We would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Tudor House Personal Care facility in Selkirk. Their warmth and compassion for Mom, and their patience and understanding with our family during this difficult time was very much appreciated. As per Annette's wishes, a private family burial, in the Pinawa cemetery, will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Annette's memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Messages of condolence can be placed with www.soberingfuneralchapel.com
