DONALD KIMMEL With heavy hearts, the family of Donald (Donnie) Kimmel, announce his passing on May 15, 2016 at the age of 62. Don's wife Brenda, and family were by his side every step of the way as he fought a short but courageous battle with cancer. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Brenda; beloved brother Gary; sister-in-law Anne; niece Tammy; nephew Jason; lifelong friend Linda; and all of Brenda's family. Donnie is predeceased by his parents Nellie and Rienholt, and dear brother Ron. Don was noted for his playful nature and great sense of humour. Don had a lifelong career with the CPR Railroad retiring in 2014 with over 35 years of service. During those two years of retirement Don enjoyed long walks with his dogs, relaxing at West Hawk Lake, strolling down Corydon with Brenda, working alongside his brother Gary on their vehicles, and doing odd jobs around the house. Don was a caring and compassionate man. He loved his wife deeply, and cherished each moment with her. They were soul mates to the end. He cherished his brother Gary, and deeply missed his brother Ron. Donnie was taken away much too soon from those who loved him. Although he is no longer with us, he has deeply touched all of our lives, and has left us with wonderful, and everlasting memories. Donnie, you will be sorely missed, forever loved, and remembered, and cherished always. The family sincerely thanks Dr. Clayton Dyck, and the caring staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, 5th floor, unit 1 for their kind and compassionate care of our Donnie. A memorial service will be held on Thursday May 26th at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Don's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Donnie was a loving, caring and a super friend. Donnie and Brenda looked after my dog Samson a few years ago when I went for surgery. Donnie made sure to call me daily so Samson could hear my voice. On Samson's 2nd birthday Donnie went out and bought Samson a special burger for his special day.Donnie took Samson for daily walks and took him with him everywhere from what I have been told. People remember Donnie and Samson together. Samson was no replacement for Opie though. I couldn't have asked for a better dogsitter. You are missed Donnie. - Posted by: Diane Bailey (Friend) on: Sep 15, 2016
