Special mention to Dorothy Galuszka, Jill Galuszka and Sandy Hetzel who were an important part of Mom's life. She was predeceased by her siblings Frank Barta, Nellie Turchen, Mary Setlack, Stan Barta, Rose Sawka, and recently her companion and friend Edmund Obozinski. We often referred to Mom as being "a Jack of all Trades" as there never appeared to be a task too large for her to tackle. Throughout her life she held various jobs outside of the home and retired from Pineland Forest Nursery after 10 years of service. Mom had a zest for life and would never be seen lounging around. It always amazed us to see her many talents. She could sew a beautiful garment from a scrap of material and create a wonderful meal using very limited ingredients and was always proud of her accomplishments. Stella was famous for her perogies and often made hundreds of dozens per week with the assistance of her sisters Rose and Mary to meet the demands. Living in a small community, Stella understood the love of family and friends and the benefits of working together, but was also determined to do it her way and referred to it as being independent not stubborn. She gave countless hours of volunteer work to the community over a 50 year span and the only thing she hoped in return was that everyone got along and that the events held were successful. Mom loved her morning coffee times with friends and in the last short while often mentioned how she missed this. Mom looked forward to having a glass of wine on Saturday evenings with Edmund and Ted and whoever else took time to stop by. They both loved the company. Mom so loved her time spent with Edmund. Together they lived life to the fullest before health issues made it impossible to continue together and life took a turn. A special thank-you to the wonderful staff at Deer Lodge Centre, Lodge 4E for the care and comfort provided to our mom, she appreciated all that you did. Thank you to Dr. Greg Eschun, Hugh Chan, Wendy Desrochers and Jacqueline Lauzon for your support and kindness shown during Mom's illness. Dear Joann and Jeannie, This is a late condolence, as I have been away and sick. I'm sorry I did not get to say good-bye to your awesome mother and to you both before her passing. It was just a short time that my mom shared the room in Deer Lodge Centre with her, but I will always remember your mom for the way she would speak up. She made me laugh so much the day she said to my mom that "If you don't like the way your children turned out as adults, it was because of the way she raised us". No truer words could ever be said. There is another bright star in the heavens. May she shine on you and your families for a lifetime and more. I had the sincere pleasure of meeting Stella while she was at Deer Lodge and was, for a while, a roomate of my mum's. My condolences, Johan and Jeannie. I am so sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Deb Martin (new aquaintance) on: May 29, 2016

Stella was the pillar of her community. She was a woman of great strength and determination, and saw to it that every event she was part of was successful. Her perogies were second to none! Our sincere condolences to Joanne and Jeannie. May she rest in peace. - Posted by: James and Fern Dmytrow (Friends) on: May 28, 2016

To a person who spoke her mind, wasn't always right but made sure you thought she was. With respect a mother and a auntie an advisor who stood her ground against many of the worlds ideas, who was not afraid to speak her mind, but would cry sorrow for the hurt she may have caused anyone with her life taught experience. She was left a mother with the passing of a husband early on in life. She took care of him as he was not a well man and brought together a house of love on very meager means. From my eyes I saw a woman who did not cry in public for the hardships she was dealt but instead pressed on to help others while making sure there was nothing wanting at home. She suffered with out but auntie would be there for her family to be the back bone of the unit and did so faithfully. She will now most certainly be a pillar in my thoughts as I grow old and I hope in Gods eyes I can be half the person she was. Love you Auntie................... - Posted by: Frank Laba (Nephew Friend ) on: May 25, 2016
