SUSAN BILYK June 13, 1950 - May 30, 2016 Susan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She is lovingly remembered by her son Greg (Lisa) and will be greatly missed by her grandson Brody, the light of her life, sister-in-law Eleanor, brother-in-law John, and niece and nephews Ada, David, Eric, Paul, Glen and John. Susan was predeceased by her husband Ken, sister Joan Olsen, brother Jim Gordon and parents Hilda and Fred Gordon. In her long career at MTS, Susan was well known for her sense of humour (which could be sarcastic) and her compassion. She helped organize the Telecommunications Employees Association of Manitoba to advocate for her fellow colleagues and was active in the Telephone Retirees Association of Manitoba. In her work as a Project Manager and in her personal life, Susan was the Queen of Spreadsheets. For problems big or small, she always had a plan. Under pressure she remained calm and organized - if it wasn't in the spreadsheet, it was in the binder. A pet lover all her life, Susan shared her house with numerous dogs (Duke), cats (Ginger), rabbits and fish. Susan was an avid gardener and took great pleasure in planning and cultivating her garden every year. She shared her produce as she shared her life, with generosity and kindness. In accordance with Susan's wishes, her remains have been cremated and a celebration of her life will take place later this month. Those wishing to attend may call 204-661-5115 on or after June 12 for details.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Although Susan was not my boss directly at MTS, I did experience Susan at the BCC coffee/lunch table many times over the years. She always impressed me with her knowledge of our MTS Unions and was great at explaining the finer details. I know she put her heart into always doing the best. She spoke loving of her husband and son on many occasions. She will be greatly missed and I sent sincere empathy to her son and family. - Posted by: Susan Van Koughnet (Ex MTS BCC - retiree) on: Jun 18, 2016

  • Quite shocking to hear of Susan's passing (my sister Carol called me). Sue was quite a bit younger than me but I do remember 1957-58 (area of time) when everyone was sure she would end up in the movies, she was the world's greatest dramatic actress, with no training. I hadn't seen her in many years but spoke with her at my mother's 100th birthday. Life can be very short, especially as we reach toward the finals. • Our hearts and thoughts are with you Greg and Lisa. Brody was the apple of Granny's eye. She will be missed, remember how much she loved you. She will be in our hearts forever . - Posted by: Leo and Ange Zabor (Good friends) on: Jun 04, 2016
