Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELAINE BARBARA MARIE HRYCIUK (nee BERTHELETTE) Elaine Hryciuk, aged 67, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the Souris Personal Care Home, Souris, MB. Elaine was born June 29, 1948 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg and grew up in St. Adolphe, MB where she attended school. She met the love of her life Bob and was married on March 26, 1966, then moved to Winnipeg where they raised three boys. Elaine always enjoyed attending her sons' hockey games and was a "Hockey Mom". You could often find Mom at bingo on any given day of the week, as this was one of her favourite pastimes, and loved it when her boys would join her there. Early mornings would find her reading her paper and enjoying her coffee, as she always liked to keep up on the news. As her kids grew older, she and Bob moved out to Delta, BC for a few years but eventually settled in Melita, MB where they loved it the most. In her later years, she learned to love gardening, taking particular care of her flowers and her special flower garden representing her family, and enjoyed spending time with her dogs Hunter and Lola. She is survived by her three sons: Bob (Patti), Cliff (Kathy), and Trevor (Lynette); grandchildren: Travis, Jason, and Brendan Hryciuk (Trevor), Ryan Hryciuk (Bob), Mckenzie Hryciuk (Cliff), and step-grandchildren: Jesse, Gage and Sheridan Friesen; Elaine will also be missed by her brothers and sisters: Jerry (Florence), Anne (Bob), Keith (Louise), Eleanor (Dave), Raymond (Deb), Rachel (Bob), Mike (Debbie), Wayne, Ken, Rhonda (Peter), and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob), of 49 years; and by her parents, Gerard and Agnes Berthelette. In keeping with Elaine's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. A private gathering to celebrate and honour Elaine's life will be held Friday, June 10, 2016. Many thanks to Dr. Cram and the wonderful staff at the Souris Personal Care Home who supported and cared for Mom in some of her most difficult times.
