Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN FRISCHBUTTER Suddenly, after a very short battle with lung cancer John passed away in the arms of his loving wife on June 4, 2016. He is survived by his wife and Liebchen' of 40 years, Leslie, his sisters, Anna Janzen (Izaak), Maria Didzun, Luise Rempel (Victor) and Betty Frischbutter and one brother Willy Frischbutter (Betty Ann) along with numerous nieces and nephews as well as brother-in-law Brian (Nadine). He was predeceased by his brothers Henry and Fred and brother-in-law Karl-Heinz Didzun. John was born on May 10, 1951 in Kolonie Neuland, Paraguay. His family immigrated to Canada in 1958 and grew up in North Kildonan. He became a master finish carpenter and loved completing many projects and houses working for family members. He was always known for his craftsmanship and attention to detail. He met Leslie in 1972 and it was love at first sight for both of them. They were married three years later. John loved life! Whether he was completing a woodworking project at home, gardening or admiring his apricot tree, enjoying time at Falcon Lake or ballroom/latin dancing with Leslie at the studio, he did so with joy. He was the consummate host and loved to entertain having such an easy way with anyone he met. Both he and Leslie enjoyed many adventures travelling together with John always making new friends along the way. Funeral service was held on Friday, June 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church. Interment took place at Elmwood Cemetery following the service. Special thanks to Dr. A.L. Tan and all his staff as well as all the staff on AG3 at Health Sciences Centre. Thanks to family and friends for your love, support and prayers during this extremely difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. Until we meet again, my sweetheart. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Les, I am so sorry to hear of John's passing and was utterly shocked when I found out! Unfortunately I could not attend the Memorial Service, as I was in Hecla for a family wedding. Will call you soon to get together! - Posted by: Gail Paul (Friend and co-worker) on: Jun 14, 2016

John and Les took us dancing at their studio on one of our visits to Winnipeg a few years ago. We were inspired by what wonderful dancers they had become. I felt nervous to dance with someone as skilled as he but with him leading I felt like I was flying across the dance floor. It was a wonderful feeling and a memorable visit. With Les's eye for design and John's talent they created a beautiful and gracious home and we loved to visit so we could see their latest project. Jayeson particularly remembers John as being friendly and welcoming when he met him. John was always gracious whether we were visiting them at home or at a family gathering. John was a real mensch (“person of integrity and honour”). We feel blessed to have had him in our family and will miss him. - Posted by: Dailaan and Jayeson Shaffer (Cousin to Leslie (Dailaan)) on: Jun 13, 2016

Intermittently coming to know John and Leslie through dance class and a couple of mutual friends... his eye's always sparkled with fun as he wisked his girl around the dance floor with such pride and fun. Always a gentleman was in his grand smile and warm handshake or hug upon greeting. Through these last eight months of getting to know them both a bit better... you saw the love of how there community cared for them. Very private people but very loving, balanced, and giving. Blessings and prayers and a what a beautiful gift to have seen you dance and enjoy life with Les. - Posted by: Georgia Inglis (Fellow student in dance class) on: Jun 11, 2016

We consider ourselves very fortunate to have known John for many years. He was such a kind, generous and thoughtful man. We first met John when he made us feel so welcome, and comfortable when we were tentative students in an evening ballroom dance class. One fond memory we have of John was when he brought a load of fireworks out to our place and helped us set them off on the riverbank behind our house. The echo of the explosions, and the reflection over the water was spectacular. What a guy! - Posted by: Bob and Kathy Gillis (Friends ) on: Jun 08, 2016
