SHIRLEY JEAN HOURD August 25, 1923 Winnipeg, Manitoba May 8, 2016 Calgary, Alberta Dear Shirley passed away in her sleep (her wish come true) on Mother's Day. Shirley was born in Winnipeg to Jessie and William McLellan, the youngest of five children (Arthur, George, William and Audrey, who have all predeceased her). Shirley met Wilbert Hourd on a blind date and were married on December 18, 1943. They settled in Winnipeg and welcomed seven children into their lives. In 1970 they relocated with the four youngest children to Springbank on the West side of Calgary. After Will's passing in 2000, Shirley remained in Springbank to pursue her many interests. Shirley was the proud matriarch of five generations who meant the world to her! Left to celebrate her legacy and memories are her children, Barbara (deceased 2002) and Ron Scott, Judy and Don Irving, Susan and Ken Rogers, Bert and Dana Hourd, Kathy and Rod Baker, Debbie Hourd, Greg Gramlich, Linda and Michael Buckner and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at Springbank United Church, (250011 Range Road 33, Calgary, AB T3Z 1L2) on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Following the Service, a reception will be held at the Springbank Heritage Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Springbank United Church and the Veteran's Food Bank (4539 6th Street N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 3Z6 Telephone: 403-265-6304).   • Dear Kathy, I have thought of you many times over the past years. I remember you living off Wilkes, going to your home for my first party by a bonfire. I married someone who lived on Liberty Rd, So you always came to mind. Hope you are well, Healthy & happy. My arms are wrapped around you with the passing of your Mom.
