Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMABEL OLIVE BROWN In the early morning of April 30th, 2016, Mabel Olive Brown peacefully passed away at the age of 103 years. Mabel was predeceased by her parents, George and Euphemia Brown and her siblings, sister Elva (Bud) Laroche, and twins George (May) Brown and Mildred (Allan) Tristram, as well as her nephew Ken Tristram. Mabel will forever be remembered by her nephews and nieces Ross (Donna) Brown and family, Diane (David) Simon and family and Chad (Karen) Tristram and Joshua. Mabel was born in Oberon, Manitoba on April 11, 1913 and moved to Winnipeg in 1918. Mabel's career centred around administration and she loved being a switchboard operator in several car dealerships. She enjoyed travelling, especially to Hawaii. You could find her hosting dinners at her place well into her nineties. She was not one for tea parties, but would share a glass of wine anytime. Her family meant the world to her and caring for them was her priority. She loved to laugh and always had a good joke or a witty response ready. Just imagine what Mabel has seen in her 103 years. Mabel's family would like to thank the caregivers at Oakview for supporting Mabel for the past two and a half years. A celebration of Mabel's life will be held at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Avenue on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a reception for stories, refreshments and fellowship in the Parish Hall. We know you are dancing and partying with all your friends now. We love you, miss you and may you rest easy.

We are so terribly sorry we couldn't be there but we didn't know anything about the service or we would have been. We have sooo many stories about Mabe's many visits to Thunder Bay..she was such a character and we made a point to visit her whenever we were in Winnipeg. She will be so missed and we will never forget her. Xxxx RIP Mabel. - Posted by: Dawn and Ken Ironside (Cousins) on: Sep 01, 2016

We met Mabel as very young children when she and her sister Elva moved into their home on Vavasour Avenue. Our family lived across the street and we quickly became very close. Mabel and Elva were wonderful caring women providing us with a second home and another parental influence. We have many fond memories of our times together especially as young children. They had a major impact on our childhood and we could not be more grateful for having them in our lives. They will always be in our hearts and our memories. I recall being in Winnipeg for a nursing reunion and Diane and I went to visit Mabel in her apartment. She decided that I should have a pair of her expensive shoes. As she insisted that I have them, I took them and wore them for 3 or 4 years. She had style; she was generous; and she recognized that I needed to dress a little classier and she was right. She was an unforgettable character. - Posted by: Shirley Cornthwaite (Friend of family) on: Jun 12, 2016
