Date of Passing: May 20, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY MCDONALD (nee DUBECKI) April 13, 1918 - May 20, 2016 Mary passed peacefully in her sleep on Friday afternoon, May 20, 2016. She was 98 years young. Left to cherish Mary's memory are her two sons, Lloyd (Sonja) McDonald and Harold McDonald; along with six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Leslie McDonald; her sister Bella and brothers, Michael and John. Mary was born to Demytro and Paraska Dubecki of Komarno, Manitoba. She came to Winnipeg at an early age to attend school and lived with her sister Bella. She worked as housekeeper for several years before marrying Les and later for many years at Eaton's catalogue, coming home each week with treasures after payday. When her husband embarked on his construction business, Mom assumed the roles of bookkeeper and cook at the construction site for workers. She remained active in the family leasing business doing the accounting until her 95th year. Amazing she was as mother, wife and friend. Family was very important to Mom; she provided a home and care to Paraska for several years, to her sister Bella when she was in extended care in Ottawa, making several trips a year to be with her sister. Mom enjoyed keeping in touch with family members and in recent years looked forward to travelling out to Komarno, visiting her parents' cemetery and to see relatives. She tried not to miss family social events and loved to travel. A celebration of Mary's life will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Lions Manor Seniors Home, 320 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg. Family and friends are encouraged to bring their favourite memories or stories of how Mary touched their lives to share with others. A private family inurnment will be held in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Wojcik's Funeral Chapels & Crematorium, Winnipeg, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com
