SUSANNA (SUE) DYCK (nee BERG) September 3, 1924 June 9, 2016 Susanna Dyck (nee Berg) September 3, 1924 June 9, 2016, our Mom, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep on the beautiful morning of Thursday, June 9, 2016, after a lengthy illness at the Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg at the age of 91 years, with her daughter Susan by her side. Mom is survived by her six children, Susan (Ike), Ken (Bernie), Diann (Jim), David (Fern), Lloyd (Jackie), and Tim (Sharon); 14 grandchildren, Kim (Brennan), Stephen, Shaun (Shannon), Graham, Cameron, Jason (Kerry), Chris (Illinca), Shannon (Ryan), Corey, Chad, Erik, Jayda, Carmen and Marcella; 11 great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Dawson, Travis, Taylor, Eva, Austin, Madison, Calin, Aliya, Bryce and Chloe; Brothers, Ben, Bill, and Ed; Sisters, Hellena, Marie, Henrietta and Anne, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Peter Dyck; birth parents, Jacob and Aganetha; parents, Ben and Marie; grandchildren Stephanie and Kali. Mom grew up in Gretna and married Peter in 1946. They lived together in Altona and soon after moved to Winnipeg. She was very active in the Charleswood community and supported the growth of the family every way she could. Mom was an active member of the Charleswood United Church for over 40 years. It would be a rare day that she missed a Sunday service. Our Mom ran a warm, loving home. She devoted her life to raising her family. She loved to knit and bake. Mom was a great cook and everyone was always welcome for a meal or a cup of tea. No one ever left her kitchen hungry. Noodle Soup and fresh buns anyone? She passed on many of these traits to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sue's Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Portage Avenue. The family extends a sincere thank-you to the staff and friends at the Lindenwood Terrace, The Rosewood and for the last three months, the comfort care provided to Mom by the Victoria Hospital. In lieu of flowers Mom would ask that you donate to the Union Gospel Mission or Siloam Mission in Winnipeg. Mom regularly donated to these charities and believed in their work. Wojcik's Funeral Chapels & Crematorium, Winnipeg, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com The smell of turkey and fresh baked pies made our mouths water and never dry. Homemade jams and cookies galore always had me coming for more. My plate not empty, my tummy full. Grandma says it's ok you can have dessert anyway. The sound of laughter and never cries, made our hearts smile with family ties. Off to the zoo, Polo Park or Charleswood Department store, staying at Grandma's was never a bore. To the rink we go to watch uncles play hockey. A blanket and treats as we sat in the seats. A short visit with her while I'm in town. I know you don't remember me but that's ok. I'm sure now it's all coming back to you. S.K

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My deepest sympathy to your family on the passing of Auntie Susie. I had full intentions of bringing mom to the funeral to pay our last respects but unfortunately her health is an issue at this time as we spent the afternoon and part of the evening at boundary trails today. Her mobility has really been an issue in the past week and tomorrow will be spent trying to get her medication and treatment for her issues. Please accept my apologies for not being able to attend and may God bless you all. Larry Chubey - Posted by: Larry Chubey (nephew) on: Jun 14, 2016
