ALMA BART (SEILER) Our Mom and Omi passed away in her 104th year on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at the Tuxedo Villa. Alma was predeceased by her husband Solomon (1995) and son Rudy (2012). Alma is survived by her daughter Clara (Ted), stepson Victor (Lorie) and family in Germany; grandsons, Harold (Sylvi), Rolf (Karin), Robert (Lyn), Ron (Yelena), Richard (Jody); eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grand-children. Alma emigrated from Germany to Canada with her family in 1957, after a long and arduous journey through a war-torn Europe. She and Solomon settled on Walker Avenue in Ft. Rouge and became inseparable in their diligence, hard work and dedication both to each other and to their family in Canada and in Germany. While Solomon operated his shoe and leather repair business, Alma worked tirelessly as a seamstress within the Winnipeg garment industry and all the while providing a home of comfort, warmth and amazing aroma floating from her hearty and delicious meals (and oohh her pastries and cakes!). Alma's drive for self-reliance (sadly tempered in these latter years), her resilience and determination in overcoming all manner of challenges and her amazing longevity are testimony to her "never quit, can-do" outlook and attitude towards life. Now, after her incredible life, she has put on her wings and taken her flight, she has left behind the travails of old age, she is once again free and happy... and what a joyous reunion that she is having with all those who awaited her! Most heartfelt thanks to Erin and Elaine, her invaluable companions these last (and at times difficult) months and to the nurses, aides and staff at the Tuxedo Villa, her home for the last five and one half years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Alma to the charity of one's choice. A graveside service and interment will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016. Please arrive by 10:45 a.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue and join the funeral party procession across the street to Brookside Cemetery. A lunch reception will follow at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com
