ROY HOOKER November 6, 1956 - June 12, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roy, beloved husband, father, son, and friend. Roy passed peacefully in his sleep, at the age of 59, surrounded by family in Selkirk, Manitoba. Roy is mourned by many. First and foremost is his wife Sharon. He also left behind two loving sons, Matthew and Scott; his mother, Ruth; his brother Leon; his sister Joen; his brother-in-law Gary; his mother-in-law Jean; and his sisters-in-law Carol (John) and Angie (Vern). He was predeceased by his father, Frank; his sister, Beth; and his father-in-law Peter. He will also be missed immensely by his many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family. Roy spent his entire life living near Selkirk, never wanting to stray too far from family and friends. In his youth he spent weekends waterskiing at the family cottage. Family was always Roy's number one priority. As he grew older, met Sharon, and they started a family of their own, summers were spent on camping trips and bike rides with the family. He loved nothing more than spending weekends at swim meets and football games supporting his two sons as they were growing up. Later on, as his kids finished up school and moved on to the next step in their lives, he looked for a new passion and found it in restoring vintage motorcycles. Roy was a happy and social person, and brought that with him wherever he went, making many life-long friends along the way. We would like to thank Dr. Habtu Demsas for his many years of excellent care. The funeral service will take place on Friday, June 17 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Church, 202 McLean Avenue, Selkirk. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or The Heart and Stroke Foundation.

So sorry to hear of Roy's passing. Worked with him so many years ago at Harrison Nowell and later at CN. He was a great guy and a talented tech - Posted by: Ray Funk (former coworker) on: Jun 25, 2016

I've known Roy for over 30 years. We met when we worked together at Harrison-Nowell Mobile Radio and continued working together when the company was bought out by Motorola. I enjoyed seeing him at our ex-Motorola Christmas lunches once a year and catching up on how both of our kids were growing up so fast and what everyone was up to. His smile and sense of humor will be sorely missed around our lunch table. Condolences to Sharon, Matt and Scott and the rest of your family. Roy is at peace now. - Posted by: Margaret & ROBERT JOHNSON (Work friend) on: Jun 21, 2016

Sharon, Matt and Scott, You are in our hearts and thoughts today. We are terribly saddened by Roy's passing and our sincerest condolences to you and your extended family. Bob has described Roy as one of his oldest and best friends and his passing will leave a void. They loved to "discuss" the highlights of Bomber games on a regular basis. We will be thinking of him each time they play. Anything you need....just let us know. Bob, Lynne, Erin and Amy - Posted by: Bob & Lynne Watson and family (Family friends) on: Jun 17, 2016

I knew Roy for years as his sister Beth was married to my brother Gary. Roy was a friendly jovial guy and well liked by all. May you spend eternity with your dad and sister in heaven. - Posted by: Laurie and Al Page (family of gary vitt, brother in law of roy) on: Jun 15, 2016
