CECILIA ANN LANG A wonderful lady has been selected for a higher calling. Cecilia Ann Lang (Cil, Cec) passed away the afternoon of June 10, 2016. A parade of family and friends passed by her bedside in the days prior to her passing in testament to her much loved status. Left to mourn her are John Aldrich (her husband of 30 years), her brother Daniel John Lang (Cecile), her sister Ruth Ann Kostiuk, her niece Kristine Lea Braun (Jon), her nephew Daniel Paul Lang, her nephew Kenneth Donald Lang (Brenda), grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and friends much too numerous to mention. Cecilia was predeceased by her sister Alice Lang, by her mother Rosalie Lang in 1998, and by her father Daniel John Lang in 2004. Cecilia was known as Cil by her family and a few friends. She was known as Cec by the vast majority of her friends and business acquaintances. Cec worked as the Steno Pool Supervisor for the Federal Government Agricultural Station (University of Manitoba) during the 1960s. She had a short stint living and working in Yorkton, Saskatchewan during the 1970s. She worked as a Personal Secretary at Polet Lumber/Kilcona Lumber during the 1970s and 1980s and as an Administrative Support Worker for Child and Family Services from the late 1980s to the early 2000s. Cec made and maintained many close friendships over the years. Once you met her you loved her. She had all the attributes that a good friend should have and many attributes that even Saints would envy. She loved family gatherings, she loved hanging with her friends and she loved doing exciting (but safe) things, like trying to wrest money from various casinos. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care Ward for their tender care in her last days. We also thank the doctors and staff at CancerCare Manitoba (St. Boniface and Health Sciences Centre) for their work at extending Cec's quality of life as long as they did. Also thanks to Dr. Chris Ibbitt, Cec's primary health care provider for many years. Cremation has already taken place. A Celebration of Cec's Life will take place on Saturday, June 18, 2016, 1:00 p.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day St., Transcona. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Riverview Foundation or CancerCare Manitoba.
