OLGA WEBER (WESELOWSKI) 1925 - 2016 It is with great sadness that the family of Olga Weber announces her peaceful passing, with her family by her side, on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the age of 91. Olga leaves to cherish her memory, son David (Fiona), daughter Leslie Richards (Joss), grandchildren, Sean, Dana (Shane) and Kyle Weber, and Alanna Melynchuk (Jeff) and Danielle Schilke (Geoff), brother Mike of Abbotsford, BC, sisters-in-law Olga and Nellie Weselowski, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Walter in 1991, parents Anthony and Irene Weselowski, brothers John (and Alice) of Prince George, BC, Bill (and Helen) of Hay River, NWT, Alec of Winnipeg, Peter of Winnipegosis, and sister Anne Kerilenko (Joe Hanysh) of Saskatoon. Olga was born on February 13, 1925 in Fishing River, MB and at the age of three moved with her family to a farm in Lynnville, MB (near Winnipegosis). In about 1945 she moved to Winnipeg to finish her education. She entered the work force, briefly as a waitress then at Great West Saddlery. In 1948 she married Walter Weber. Mom was captain of the 52nd Winnipeg Company of Girl Guides from 1952 to 1955. Son, David, was born in 1957 followed by daughter, Leslie in 1960. The family moved to Transcona in 1961 and settled into church and community. Many summers were spent in Winnipegosis so in 1969 Grandpa's homestead in Lynnville was purchased. It was there that Mom started beekeeping in 1974 and it became a family hobby until 1984. Mom enjoyed nature, art, music and dance, cooking, entertaining family and friends, gardening and family life. Mom moved to Tuxedo Villa in December of 2012. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Station 1 of Tuxedo Villa for their loving, dignified care and support. Cremation has already taken place. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day St., Winnipeg, Manitoba. A private interment will be held at South Bay Cemetery in Winnipegosis at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mom's favourite charity with whom she volunteered as a canvasser for many years, the Canadian Cancer Society, CancerCare Manitoba, or a charity of their choice. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I'm so sorry to hear of Auntie Olga's passing. I remember spending many summers in Winnipegosis running from the snakes, and bees. But always enjoyed the honey she would send home with us. We also spent many Christmas' at her house decorating Ukrainian eggs with Leslie and enjoying good old Ukrainian cooking. - Posted by: Kim Groen (Hanysh) (Family ) on: Jun 20, 2016
