HELMUTH GUMPRICH Helmuth Gumprich, 86, passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital on Sunday, June 19, 2016. Helmuth was predeceased by his wife, Gertrude, his daughter Ruth Gumprich Hogue (Paul), his brothers Gunter and Max, and his parents Martha and Herman. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his sons, Gary (Darlene Dupuis) and Ken, his daughter Diane (Kevin Clouston), his sister Selma, his brother Manfred (Corinne), his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as many great friends. Helmuth was a fixture in the local cattle business right up to his passing. It is almost impossible to meet someone in the business who did not know him and have a story to tell. In addition, he was involved in the thoroughbred horse business for many years and maintained an interest in that business, especially where it concerned horses owned by his brother, Manfred. One thing that could always be said of Dad is that he lived life on his terms. In fact, we often thought that the song "I did it my way" was written about him. Funeral services will be held at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue on June 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Manitoba, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation. We wish to thank all of the doctors, nurses and aides at the St. Boniface Hospital for the care and kindness shown to Helmuth in his final days.
