PAWEL BOHDAN (GORDIE) HORECZKO It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Pawel Bohdan (Gordie) Horeczko on June 13, 2016, at his residence. Bohdan was born May 25, 1949 in Sypniewo, Poland. On October 18, 1968, at the age of 19, he arrived in Winnipeg joining his family to begin a new chapter in his life. He worked with his family at the Golden Restaurant where he met many of his lifelong friends. He apprenticed as a steam fitter, worked as a plumber and finished his working career with the City of Winnipeg. Bohdan / Gordie took pride in whatever job he tackled and had a strong work ethic. With hard work and commitment he earned his heavy equipment operator certificate. He could often be seen driving a cement truck in the summer, operating a front end loader in the winter or driving a dump truck during blizzards. Gordie enjoyed his job and often put in those extra hours for emergency services. Gordie was a quiet, kind and gentle man with a charming smile. He was always willing to give a helping hand to everyone he met. He embraced life by socializing at many of the North End social clubs; National Home, Prosvita and UNF. He cherished family gatherings on special occasions and he especially loved his Ukrainian cultural ties. Bohdan was predeceased by his parents in 1999. He leaves behind a large family including his children Myranda, Andrew, Stephan and former wife Joanne, brother Mike (Andrea) Babinsky; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada, Poland, Ukraine and Thailand from the Babinsky, Horechko, Lipski, Mikityszyn and Sarakula families. Cremation has taken place. He will be laid to rest with his parents at a later date at All Saints Cemetery. Vichnaya Pamyat
