WILLIAM (BILL) ARMITAGE November 14, 1950 - June 17, 2016 Suddenly on June 17, 2016 Bill Armitage passed away at the age of 65 years. His father Alan Norman Armitage in 2001 and his beloved mother Joan Armitage predeceased Bill in 2013. He leaves to sadly mourn, his sister Liz Armitage, friends, staff and residents at Donwood Manor. Bill was born and raised in the North End of Winnipeg in the 1950s and 1960s. True to the times he was both a "Rebel and a Rouser". He attended High School....sometimes. Initially he worked for his father, and albeit tormenting all the mechanics, his mechanical aptitude quickly became evident. Bill liked to take things apart just to see how they worked. He became interested in Electronics. Under the tutelage of his boss Harold Laudin, Bill worked days at Triad Electronics and took night classes at Red River College to achieve a diploma in Industrial Electronic Technology. He spent many years selling and servicing Industrial Automotive Equipment. Throughout his career and retirement Bill was always fixing something for someone. He loved to go for long bike rides and cross-country skiing in Birds Hill Park. He was especially fond of dogs and his Peach-Faced Lovebird. Flowers are graciously declined. Donations may be made to an animal shelter of one's choice. At Bill's request, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. His ashes will be spread according to his wishes. "The pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again" - Charles Dickens

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I want to wish all of his family my sympathy. I only heard today that Bill had passed and is now resting. Bill and I spent many good times together in the early to mid- seventies taking long walls, long talks, going to clubs and bars having allot of good times. I was away for many years in the east of the country and therefore was not in touch with Bill or the West of Canada. My sincere best wishes to those of the family who read this. He was unique and a special friend at that time. I will always remember and be thankful for his friendship. Peace and all good Robb - Posted by: robb (old friend) on: May 27, 2017

  • Go gently brother dear and may you rest in eternal peace. Thank you for the good things that you did and the many times that you always showed up to rescue me and my stalled vehicles. Please send my love to Ma as always until me meet again. • Bill was an old friend during the late 1960's and 1970's, although we lost touch later on in years. Bill would always find a way to make us laugh. Sorry, Liz, for the loss of your brother. May he rest in peace From old friend Jim - Posted by: Jim J Rak (Old friend) on: Jun 26, 2016
