Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRONALD ERNEST DOWNEY Ron passed away peacefully at Middlechurch Home on June 24, 2016. He was born September 19, 1930 in Gladstone, MB to Noble and Dolly (Margaret). He was second born in their family of five children. He left school young to help his dad with the family farm then in his late teens he moved to Winnipeg to take a butchering course. After working as a butcher for many years he started working for Burns Meats as a sales rep, and also had his own custom meat cutting business with his good friend Corky as a side job. He married Eva Mae Mabb on August 23, 1952 and have three girls. They lived in the same house in Windsor Park for 48 years. They loved their little home and beautifully landscaped yard that they both worked hard at. It was always very warm and welcoming to their many friends and family. They belonged to the Peace Officers Club and then the Elmwood Legion, and enjoyed the pool, dart and lawn bowling leagues they were involved in. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him, especially his wife and daughters: Leanne (Darren), Sherri (Victor) and Lisa (Donovan); his grandchildren: Brad (Paula), Bryan (Celine), Eric, Brittany (Daniel), Kelly (Ryan) and Brayden; his great-grandchildren: Maria, Julian and Brooklyn, as well as his sisters, nieces, nephews and many friends. His passing has left a big hole in our hearts but we look forward to seeing him again someday in heaven! Our family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Middlechurch Home for all of their wonderful care. A memorial donation to the Alzheimer Society in Ron's name can be made if so desired, in lieu of flowers. Join us to celebrate his life at 10:00 a.m., July 8 at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St.

I would like to express condolences to Ron's Family at this sad time. Working in the Saskatchewan Sales Division I had the privilege of meeting Ron at all of our National Sales Meetings and training seminars over a couple decades we shared at Burns Meats Ltd. in the "Good Old Days" when great salesmanship trumped office politics. I will remember Ron as a happy and outgoing person, a team player, and a good guy. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Ron Andrusek (Burns Meats Sales Team) on: Jul 02, 2016

RIP Ron, I have so many good memories of all the fun that Ken (with the Angels) and I had with You and Eve. Playing darts at the Peace Officers Club. Knowing that we had neighbors down the street that were there for us was a great feeling. Your home on Arundel Rd was open to so many, especially our daughter Debra. Have a good dart game with Ken until Eve and I come to join you. My condolences to Eve and the Family. May God be with you all as you send Ron to be with the other Angels. With Love from the Harrison Family. - Posted by: Lillian Harrison (Old Friend and Neighbor) on: Jun 28, 2016
