CLIFFORD HELGI TOMASSON February 9, 1942 - June 26, 2016 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather as the result of a massive stroke. Cliff left us on June 26, 2016. He fought a valiant battle to stay with us, but that was not to be. Cliff is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Marleen (nee Jonson), as well as his four wonderful daughters, Cheryl (Benson), Janice (Bryan), Teresa (Michael), and Brenda (Tom). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Clifford, Courtney, Maxine, Mason, Taylor, Brandon, Kennedy, Chelsea, Vanessa, Trevor, Connor, and Devon - all of whom he adored. In addition, he felt very blessed when his great-grandson, Carter, was born in 2015. Also surviving Cliff, are his three siblings, Chris (Ardith), Darlene (Ron), and Deanna (Ted), with whom he maintained very close relationships. He is also survived by a large, extended family, all of whom loved him. He was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy (2011), and his father, Helgi K. (1971). Cliff was a very hardworking, responsible, dedicated man. He enjoyed many years as an insurance agent / tax consultant within his own companies, Tomasson Insurance Services Ltd., and currently Tomasson Tax Services, where he remained enthusiastically active to the date of his illness. He formed many loyal relationships in his career. He was a man who could always be counted on for sound advice and help when needed. Dad was a devoted family man and we will forever be grateful for, and cherish, the memories of countless family gatherings and celebrations. He was an avid reader, and a loyal fan of the Winnipeg Jets, and the Blue Bombers. A memorial service will be held at the Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined. In Cliff's memory, donations to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 0K6 would be appreciated. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Condolences & Memories (12 entries)

  • My wife and I had been happy clients of Cliff's for a number of years. He always made tax time as fun as it could be and was such an expert in his field. One year he spent hours researching on my behalf and charged me nearly nothing for the additional effort. When I went in to the office yesterday, to arrange the preparation of my taxes, I was shocked to learn of the passing of Cliff from his wife Marleen. Our condolences to all of Cliff's family, friends and clients. Trevor and Arlene Porritt - Posted by: Trevor and Arlene Porritt (Client/Friend) on: Apr 26, 2017

  • Cliff was a wonderful father that never had a second thought when asked if the new neighbours could come to the new centennial pool on a Sunday evening. He always said yes and we would all pile into the car and off we'd go. We missed the whole gang when they moved to TB. And were excited when they returned to Winnipeg. My mom and dad renewed their friendship, became loyal clients and moved with them to the new locations. Whenever we crossed paths over years Cliff always asked how we all were he never forgot anyone of us. I'm so sorry for your loss, he was a wonderful person that I have very fond memories of. Thoughts and prayers are with you through this very difficult time. Much love and hugs to all. Kathy - Posted by: Kathy Newcombe White (Family friend) on: Jul 04, 2016
