OTTILIE TROTNOW Ottilie (Tillie) Trotnow (née Gramm) passed away on September 22, 2015. Tillie was born in Vohlynia, Russia, in 1914 to Adolph and Wanda Gramm. Her father was deceased during wartime and she and her mother were forced to flee their home. They later settled in Bad Oldesloe, Germany, and immigrated to Canada in 1927, settling for a brief time in Freidensfeld, Manitoba, along with her stepfather Fredrick Buelow; brother Bernard, and sister Louise. Another brother, Alfred, was born when the family moved to Winnipeg. Tillie worked at the Alexandra Hotel until she met and married Leonard (Leo). They resided in West Kildonan for many years until his death in 1975. She was an active person who loved to sew and enjoyed the opera and symphony. She became involved with a bowling league at Academy Lanes and played for several years, winning tournaments, trips and collecting trophies. She had a myriad of friends and was known as the "Guardian Angel" and mentor to many when she lived at 64 Nassau, for 15 years. Her final years were spent at Misericordia Place, along with her friends Lucy and Jen, where she continued to enjoy friendships and was well cared for. Tillie was loved and is survived by her son, Robert "Bob" in Winnipeg; daughter Linda (Paul), Florida; granddaughters, Lori (Michael), Medley, Kelly, and grandson, Garrett; her brother Alfred (Mildred); sister-in-law Vicky (Buelow), (Jack) McTaggart, and many nieces and nephews and their children. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church. A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00 p.m. on July 6, 2016 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 600 Cambridge Street, Winnipeg. Officiated by Pastor Rick Sauer.
