ROBERT (BOB) CYR Robert Phillip Cyr - Bob' to one and all - told his last dad joke' then rode off into the sunset, on Friday, July 1, 2016. Bob was a gentleman and a family man. He was a problem solver. Bob was a tinkerer and builder of things'. He was a part-time history buff and a full-time western movie aficionado. Bob was curious and wise. He was an amateur storm-chaser and a professional father and friend. His immeasurable patience was proven, and tested, by his life-long support for the Winnipeg Jets, and at least one of his sons teenage' years. The world according to Bob began on April 11, 1944 and if Bob himself could choose one word to describe his childhood, it would be: abrupt. Despite such inauspicious beginnings, Bob harbored an indomitable spirit and had an affable nature that anyone who met him, loved. Bob and Dee began their love affair during the warmer months, amid the wonder and excitement of a carnival in the late 1960s. And thus, some of our greatest family memories are of times spent, together, at some sort of thrilling show, or on a roller-coaster ride, or enjoying some sort of firework display. Bob's impeccable timing of shuffling off this mortal coil on a day reserved for celebration and fireworks is not lost on anyone who loved him. Bob was a lover of cinema, both the good and bad, and even the ugly. He would be happy to know that the film rights to his life-story have been purchased by Hollywood, and the rumor is, old Mr. Eastwood himself may be directing. Bob would not be happy at all, to know that Tom Cruise is being considered for the lead role. True to his wishes, Bob was cremated and his remains will be scattered in places that he will have a great time visiting, or haunting, for all eternity. Bob leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, best friend and soul-mate, Dee; his son Randy and grandsons, James and Noah; his son Damien and granddaughter and love-of-his-life', Abigail and grandson Benjamin. Also missing Bob will be his siblings Jan, Sharon, Tim, Dan, Sandy, Dennis and Jim; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Friends, young and old, too numerous to count. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Patricia and William; a few of his original teeth and strangely, his sense of smell; Bob's siblings: Gordie, Rollie, Gerry, Richard and Marilyn; and lastly, his "damned" appendix. Dad, you made this world a little easier to face knowing you supported us 100%. You will be missed. Happy trails to you, pops, until we meet again. Please join us to celebrate the life of a man who will live in our hearts forever on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the St. James Legion, located at 1755 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. Bob would be honored if you considered a donation in his memory to Dreams Take Flight', 355 Portage Avenue, R3B 2C3. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • He was the cool brother. The one that always seemed to be living a life of adventure. Bobby was kind and caring, and along with brother Rick made me feel like I had serious backup when I stepped out the the door on Kate Street. Bobby was a kind man, and he always had a story or joke to tell, which made him larger than life when we were kids. I will always remember Bob as a good and decent man to his brothers and sisters, and to Dee and family. I will miss you Bobby, I will never forget your kindness, and I love you..rest easy big brother..rest easy.. - Posted by: Tim McGillis (Brother) on: Jul 09, 2016
