Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMABEL MORRIS (USICK) May 3, 1921 - July 6, 2016 It is with great love and fond memories that the family wishes to announce the passing of Mabel Morris on July 6, 2016, at the Concordia Hospital with her grandson at her side. Mabel was born on a farm near Basswood, Manitoba, on May 3, 1921. She lived in Erickson and Brandon, and then moved to Winnipeg in 1972. When Concordia Hospital opened in December of 1974 she started working in the cafeteria until her retirement. Then she volunteered in the gift shop for over 20 years. Mabel was a strong and determined, caring and generous woman. Her family was her first priority and her love for them was unconditional. Her home was open to family members for lodging and for large family gatherings. Bowling was one of her favourite pastimes and she always looked forward to the good times spent with friends on Monday and Friday afternoons at Rossmere Bowling Alley. Mabel leaves to cherish her memory: daughter Ethel; son-in-law Bill Stroich; her pride and joy, her grandchildren Nancy (Richard Honey) and John Stroich (Lori); and her precious great-grandchildren, Morgana and Brody Stroich, and Owen and Presley Honey. She is also survived by her brother Stanley Usick of Elmira, Ontario, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Harry in 2001; parents Nicholas and Anastasia Usick; sisters Elsie Chmilewski, Teenie Kuzma, Ann Misanchuk, Mary Ludwig, Florence Lovegrove, Stella Kerecman and brother Edward Usick. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thanks to Winnipeg paramedics, staff at Concordia Hospital 3W, and home care. Thanks to her doctor, Dr. Martin, for his sensitivity and compassion toward Mabel for the last 15 months and to Dr. Shah in previous years. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Concordia Hospital Foundation, 1095 Concordia Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R2K 3S8. The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12, at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main Street, with Father Janusz Maron officiating.
